Transporting the dress from out of town

For those who have planned/are planning from out of town did you buy your dress in NY or where you live now? If you bought it outside of NY how did you transport it there without messing it up? I'm in D.C. and will probably purchase my dress here. Its not a long trip but..... I'm anxious to hear other bride's concerns experiences

Re: Transporting the dress from out of town

I am getting married in Italy and as for transporting the dress I am buying a big garment bag and carrying it on the plane with me.
I ahve arranged for my hotel to steam it when I get there.....

Re: Transporting the dress from out of town

I bought my dress at Priscilla of Boston in Massachusetts. They shipped my dress via Fed Ex to their Roslyn store, the Roslyn store steamed it, and I picked it up there...

Re: Transporting the dress from out of town

I bought mine in Dallas and had all the alterations done here and then shipped it to NY to my parent's house. A local bridal shop has steamed it for me.
