Ok, i'm in the middle of planning my HM and i'm running into the problem of...we don't work with that hotel but I can offer you XXXX. The thing is a did a lot of research and want the hotel I asked for. If you push do they do it for you? I don't want to settle, the other hotel doesn't have great reviews. help! Have never used a travel agent to plan a trip how does this work?

Don't settle! i have used travel agents before and have never come across one that couldn't get a reservation for me at a hotel...
Go to a different travel agent. I have heard great things about Tom Varghese (aka Travel Tom). I think jesaroo2 has his information.

Don't settle for anything you dont want. It's YOUR honeymoon. FH and I have been using this travel agent, Regina, for EVERYTHING. Even if its just going into the city for the night, or even somewhere on the island. She booked our trip to dominican republic, she planned my brothers trip to South Beach, she's planning my honeymoon and she already booked my co-workers honeymoon as well. Shes the best!!! i've never heard of a TA saying that they donj't work with a hotel and wont book them for you! that is really strange. Maybe they want you to book the other because they may get something out of it. I know sandals offers TA's free days if they book a lot of trips with them
