I see a scratch in my ring, and I had my jeweler inspect it, they say it's perfect, but I still see it... they're never back their very long, but I am SEVERELY freaked out... it's THERE. It could be a completely different broken diamond... GAH. Y'all make me paranoid!
I think that you are ok, its really not that common for jewlers to switch but I myself am paranoid as well, you can always check the better business bureau...

Re: Trusting your Jeweler
'09er crashing... I needed to have a mold of my e-ring made in order to have my wedding band made and needed to leave my e-ring with the jeweler for a few days and he took the stone out and let me hold on to it and then re-set it when he was finished. Did you have your ring appraised? If so, you can always bring it to the appraiser and they will be able to verify that it is your stone if you leave the whole ring with him... HTH

when FH bought my ring he SAT there in front of the setter and watched him put the diamond in the setting and then when i had to get it sized (twice) he SAT there and watched the repair guy size it. kim.. rather be safe than sorry.. if you want my jewelers name let me know... they will fix anything for you...with you sitting right there in front of the guy.. in minutes!!! i dont understand this shipping the ring out business... or taking a few days to do a repair that should take MINUTES... too risky for my liking... ive worked in the jewelry business.. trust me... crazy things can happen.

I asked some diamond people about the scratch in my ring (it's the size of a salt grain) they think if it's a surface scratch that it could probably be buffed or polished out....I am just so afraid of these 'taking it in the back' people now... do, D, do you think your jeweler could give me a really good cleaning and polish?
The diamond people also told me to live with it rather than have the diamond re-cut (which makes sense) and if my store has to send the diamond out to be replaced, I'll live with it then too. No way I'll never know which diamond I'll get back.

Yeah Danielle FM me the name and # of your jeweler! I loved mine until he made me nervous about leaving my ring. As it was When I picked out my Diamond he held onto it until he made the ring. He had my diamond for about 2 months before tom picked it up. and WHen i saw the ring when tom proposed I felt like it wasn't my diamond. The we picked was more brilliant and sparkled a lot! I even looked at it under normal lighting when I picked it. Noe mine only sparkles in certain lighting. I want to have some one check it to my Cert.
