Trying to win an argument: Those of you with cell phones.......

Do you have a house phone too? Dh and I just had an argument because he doesn't see the need to pay $200.00 a month in cell phone bills AND pay for a house line. My point is that I need one, it is so annoying to always miss a call cause my cell was in the other room.

Maybe I am being a brat, but I think a house line IS necessary.

I have a house phone as well as a cell phone, but our cell bill isn't even remotely close to $200. You might want to renegotiate your plan!

i feel the same way. a lot of my friends have done this and i personally, don't love the idea of relying on my cell service as my only means of communication...especially since they are so unreliable.

edited to say that verizon offers a discount if you combine your home and cell bill......I think i get 5.00 off a month plus i downgraded my home service to 35.00 a month w/ unlimited calls nationally.....

the only reason we do is for fh's mom...I didn't have one before we got married.

Beanie, they are unnecessary if you don't have kids IMO...save the money, and go out to dinner!

Our bill is so high because we have the plan with 1000 minutes each...if we had a house line I wouldn't need that many!

We have a house phone in addition to our cells. We share 700 minutes a month and we don't come close to going over either.

I saved SO much money by getting ahouse phone!

At first we decided to use our cells as house phones and ended up using all our minutes during the day and then some. Our bill came to about $300 for 2 cells.

When we added a house phone for $29 we ended up spending about $100 a month. So we saved almost $200 by adding a phone!!!!!!

i want a land line but DH said while we are still renting we'll just use the cell phones.

if you're a brat then i'm a brat too! i dont think men understand us! for me its about feeling more secure having a land line. at my moms house we always had 1 cordless phone and 1 'corded' phone in case of blackouts. it would just make me feel better to at least have a cheap landline with a 'corded' phone in case of emergencies.

When we moved in together we each had our own cell phones with around 1200 minutes each, plus our house phone and i still managed to go over my minutes. We just moved into our house and had our phones hooked up even before we moved in, the first nite it was great having cable TV, phone and internet.

With cablevision, you can get your phone, internet and a basic cable plan for 99.99 a month.
We have the the best plan for cable with all the movie channels and its only 129.99 a month IMO its totally worth it to have a house phone
