I was wondering if anyone would be interested in starting a TTC discussion group either on here or somewhere else since this site is getting crowded and I wouldn't want to take away from the brides planning weddings.
But my DH and I are TTC right now and it's just so frustrating and would love some others to share my feelings with that understand. I know there are other sites that have this but I feel like I know most of you more than the other web sites and I really like the liweddings set up. Anyway -- just some thoughts.
We have tried for 2 months. Today I start month # 3 because guess who showed up! GRRRRRR. I really thought this month was it -- but I'm feeling very depressed today as well and it's driving me nuts.

Re: TTC Thread
I don't really look for online medical advise and there are some great sites about TTC and pregnancy out there. But I think we are looking for just a support area. We have a parenting board and there are no medical doctors or reading materials over there for moms. It is a place to share, vent, send hugs and friendship. I think the same would hold true for every 'tab' on here.

Re: TTC Thread
I agree. I think a lot of girls here would be interested in talking to each other about their vents and stories. We have all different tabs on here and I think this would be very popular. Nobody wants medical advice on here.Just to share stories with friends.

Re: TTC Thread
I just don't like all the different tabs. I think creating separate boards for different brides (like May and 04) is a bad idea, and creates competition and jealously and separation. And where does it end?
Having all these different tabs to go through is cumbersome. Why not link Parenting and TTC together? They're related. Or maybe it could be a sub-tab if you must have your own board, but I don't see the advantage in that. I like one place to see everything. The parenting board isn't so busy that threads would get lost.

Re: TTC Thread
sorry - JMO on all the tabs, not on TTC so much.
but I just don't get what the advantages of having a separate tab are. Can anyone explain?

Re: TTC Thread
We have a bride tab, newlywed tab, parenting tab,NWR tab, etc. I think it belongs right before parenting.

Re: TTC Thread
Okay, isn't that what we are ALREADY doing? I don't see why it has to be separate. Why can't we vent, share stories and give support within the Parenting tab?? I feel like I'm missing something...is it that the women who are TTC don't want input, stories and advice from the women who are already Moms?? That's a whole different issue...but, like all tabs on this board, you don't have to be in the situation to give your two cents!
I guess we'll have to agree to disagree.

Re: TTC Thread
TTC and Parenting are 2 different issues. I think a LIbabies.com would be a great idea, but for now we don't have that. Pregnancy sites do have different areas for TTC, pregnancy and post-pregnancy. Why?

Re: TTC Thread
Well I have been ttc for a year now. I started with a fertility specialist last month. I started on clomid and well.. got my friend. Started my 2nd month on clomid and had an IUI ( insemination) done a few days ago and I find out if I am pregnant in 2 weeks!!!!! I cant wait to find out though I try not to get so excited about it cause I hate getting so dissapointed. I need some more baby dust!

Re: TTC Thread
michele - pregnancy sites have different areas for TTC, pregnancy and parenting b/c those sites are set up for the single purpose of covering topics about the different phases of PARENTING. TTC IS A PARENTING ISSUE. If you cannot conceive, you have certain biological obstacles to becoming a parent. You can consider other options, but those may radically affect your view on becoming a parent (ie, not everyone believes in certain medical treatments for infertility or adoption as options for being a parent.)
Also, those 'pregnancy' sites have a ton of separate resources like email newsletters, pregnancy calendars, ovulation calculators, diaries, advice on baby gear, advice and descriptions of fertility meds, product advertisements and commerce, physicians etc. that are all specific to the parenting/family 'industry' to help couples deal with all of the issues that affect their lives. That is why I suggested using those sites if you are really looking for a substantial amount of info and support on these topics.
LIW is certainly not my primary source for parenting and baby development issues, even though we have a Parenting board. I come here for different things and that is fine...it works.
LIWeddings is here for (primarily) weddings. I'm going to make a mad guess that Ron and Liz are not about to add pregnancy and parenting services to the vendor list, and that you won't be shopping for a doula here - at least not for many years. But, since they don't send their business plan to me to proof, we'll have to just assume that they're pretty happy with the phenomenal success of the wedding site for now and that they won't be raffling off an ovulation predictor kit at the next GTG.
That said, I think it's more reasonable to ask for a 'pre-engagement' tab here at LIW than a 'TTC' tab, especially when we already have Parenting. TTC is a very relevant topic to the parenting tab, b/c whether you are trying to become a parent for the first time, or you already are one, conception issues can happen to anyone at anytime and for any reason or no reason. If all you want to do is share TTC stories and advice, well then...we are already doing that!
But, I just want to point out that if anyone is not thinking of TTC as a critical part of parenting that is foolish IMO. That is like thinking of the wedding without the marriage! The difference is that the wedding is only ONE DAY and when it is over, people talk about getting back to their 'normal' lives.' The birth of your child might happen within one day's time, but you are a parent for a LIFETIME. You now have to alter EVERYTHING you once knew about your former life.
JMO.

Re: TTC Thread
BTW.. I have no problems with posting my TTC stories in this tab. This is not a pregnancy website and there are other msg boards that I go to that ONLY have tabs for TTC and pregnancy disscussions.. Everytime I have vented on here about my frustrations of TTC everyone has always been great to me.. Then again if there were to put another tab in for what I'm going through that would be great as well.. I'm in between on this one cause I already have a child and love hearing the stories from the other mommys but also am always looking to vent about my 'little problem' I'm good either way...Just need some dust!

Re: TTC Thread
I'm with Claud on this one. I like keeping TTC within the Parenting tab. When I share issues with TTC, I want to not only receive enouragement and support from those in my shoes, but from those who have Been There Done That as well. I feel that a seperate tab would isolate moms from moms to be, and in reality, we are all friends and in this together. JMO, as always.

Re: TTC Thread
Another advocate here for keeping the TTC and Parenting tabs as one. Maybe another name would be more suitable... Parents/Parents-to-Be, Family Life ??? I don't know. Just a suggestion....
But I agree I think everything that has been mentioned on both sides of the issue can be resolved within one tab... one parenting LIW family. Ahhh remember when there WAS only ONE tab??!!
