Turks & Caicos Anyone?

Hi, I'm in the middle of trying to figure out a honeymoon. I've heard great things about Turks & Caicos. Anyone going or have gone for their honeymoon? If so, can you share any info please! I never thought that deciding on a honeymoon would be so difficult.

If you are going/have gone:

Where did you stay?
When did you go? (I'm concerned about weather, although it's pretty much a hit or miss)

Has anyone stayed at any of Sandals Beaches resorts?? Please help!

Thanks!

Re: Turks & Caicos Anyone?

We are going and we are so excited! Here are some links we have found.

Turks and Caicos Islands

Map of Providenciales

Edited to say:

We are staying at one of the Ocean Club Resorts (there are two on Provo.)

We looked into the all-inclusive resorts and didn't like them. We've heard that they are either very family-oriented (with a lot of children) or very singles-oriented.

Re: Turks & Caicos Anyone?

LOL - I am already looking at the Ocean Club website! Thank you for your quick response! I guess it's a sign

Yes I too am concerned with the all-inclusive. But we thought it would just be more convenient.

Re: Turks & Caicos Anyone?

I vacationed at the Beaches in Turks & Caicos about 2 years ago in Oct (low season). There was a mixed crowd but definitely more couples and families but I don't think there were a lot of kids running around. Also saw some weddings there too. Beaches also has many restaurants so you can dine with waiter service rather than going to the communal cafeteria which we took advantage of. What I enjoyed most here was that they had a resort scuba diving course which is included in the basic cost and I got to dive several times. The underwater life is fantastic there. Also if you are considering Beaches -try to stay on the French side (I think that's what its called) cuz its newer.

Re: Turks & Caicos Anyone?

Thanks!! I'm considering Beaches, I figure Turks & Caicos is a different type of place. So we'll see. A friend of mine also said they had a fantastic time at Beaches, but told me not to go for my honeymoon. I'm confused. I just keep telling myself I have time.

Re: Turks & Caicos Anyone?

Just wanted to clarify that I did not go to Beaches for Honeymoon - just vacation.

If you're looking to relax on the beach, don't mind being around other vacationing people, are happy to participate in the resort's activities, not worry about paying for thing and the other things that come with an all-inclusive, then Beaches is pretty nice place.

But if you're looking to be more private, do private tours/activities, then Beaches may not be for you or you may have to search out more customized activities.

I guess it depends on what you are looking to do. Also, if you like to sightsee, see cultural things, then Turks & Caicos may not be for you. THere wasn't much to do outside of the individual hotel/resort properties.

Re: Turks & Caicos Anyone?

Thank you! I did notice that you said vacation and not honeymoon. I'm not sure what kind of people we are. LOL We pretty much like any kind of atmosphere. I should do more research! Thanks again!

Re: Turks & Caicos Anyone?

I went to Beaches Turks & Caicos with my family in January of 2000. The weather was beautiful but I don't think I would recommend this for your honeymoon as there were definitely lots of little kids, a kids club, video games etc. Just my preference but I would want something more secluded etc.

However, I would highly recommend Parrot Cay - its an exclusive resort that caters to your every whim and its a bit more luxurious than Beaches. NOt sure how $$ it is, but I would think alot more than Beaches or Sandals. Not sure what you're looking for, but may be worth checking out if this is more your style. Good luck!
