Tuxedo or suit for female groom attendant

Original post by PaulRo

Do they make female tuxedos if your best man or groomsman was a girl?
That would be the case with our wedding.
She might look better not wearing a dress to match the other 2 guys she'll be standing with.
Can someone suggest some pictures/links with ideas. Maybe a pants suit like business attire...
Here's our non traditional bridal party

Bride's side
1 man of honor
1 bridesmaid

Groom's side
1 best man
1 groomsman
1 female groom attendant

Re: Tuxedo or suit for female groom attendant

I just went to a wedding with a female best lady who wore a long black dress. I thought it looked very nice. Have you spoken with this individual? Would she be comfortable wearing a suit? She might feel more comfortable in a dress.

FH is having his sister as his 'best man' We are referring to her as the 'best woman' She is wearing a BM gown in the same color as my MOH's only a different style.

I would have her wear a black dress that way she can still blend but look pretty also.

wouldn't you wear a business suit to a job interview?
women wear that everyday to their office jobs i don't see why it is so uncomfortable..
we would accessorize so she doesn't look like one of the waitresses.

She is a little reluctant about wearing a tux...she doesn't want people looking at her funny...and i do care for her concerns..but i think she is being a bit bitchy now...she is also pregnant and due in 2 months..that could be part of it...
so...i'm letting it go for now...but later this year i will insist she do as i say.

I say go for a black dress. If it were me... I may not feel comfortable at a formal event like a wedding wearing a suit while every other girl wore cute dresse?!...

ITA! As a woman, I would not ever want to wear pants to a formal affair.

WOW, i feel bad for her.

I do wear suits to interviews but I ONLY wear skirt suits unless there is a snow storm! I do not feel good about myself in a pants suit.

What does your FH say about this? Why do you WANT to make this woman unhappy and feel bad about her self? I would never want anyone in my bridal party to feel uncomfortable or bad about what they are wearing.

Alright baby brother, big sister is butting in. If you abuse your wedding party and force them to 'do as you say' then you may have a problem KEEPING your wedding party. If I am the only one wearing a dress, I do not see what the big deal is in putting your female attendant in a similar or complimenting dress as well. Your friend has already said she doesnt want to be in a tux, why would you force her? Being in someone's wedding is supposed to be an honor. What would your Man of Honor say if you forced him to match the bridesmaid by wearing a dress? Its the same thing. I hope you and Ro will reconsider. Perhaps you should leave the wedding planning to the women

I think you should ask her what she is comfortable in. If she isn't going to be comfortable in a tux or suit (I know I DEF would not be...), then I don't see a problem with having her wear a dress.

No offense but- I would never ever wear a tux or a suit anywhere nonetheless my friend's wedding.

I would be very insulted but, that's just me.

I would ask her what she felt most comfortable doing. You don't want people to be unhappy at your wedding- especially the bridal party.

It's not like your making the guy on your side wear a dress...why should it be any different for her?

Ummm...that's obnoixous...I thought the point of having a bp was having the poeple closest to you stand by you on the most important day of your life...Listen to your sister and take it down a notch...

Re: Tuxedo or suit for female groom attendant

I am the bride here and I think that a ladies' tuxedo would be perfect. She's the one picking out dresses and not even running anything by me. I know she has not a lot of money but if she stands with my FH and the other two men I feel that she should wear a tux. Im sorry that everyone thinks she should wear a dress but not this time. If my bff Kevin asked me to be in his wedding and asked me to do something like that I would say yes and just get a cute top to go underneath I wouldnt be wearing the jacket the whole time. I like wearing pants personally, but this again is my day and not hers....

Im sorry lori7570 but pauls sister was the one who told me should would look good in a women's tux. I just thought that was the best idea and I dont like ur attitude thanks for posting and have a nice day u should take it down a notch. I am not forcing anyone to do anything she might not be in it as far as I know but she has to get on the same page as me. I am the bride I just think it would be better the way I want it.

For clarification, I said that for picture sake (trying to be nice) she should be in a dress. I would never say she should be in a tux
