Tuxedos
Hi girls - I need your help!! FH and I have been debating an interesting dilemma the past few weeks regarding the tuxes for our bridal party. We picked out what we want the guys to wear and sent them the info about the rental. We have received a few responses from guys asking if they can wear a tux that they already own. I really don't know what to do. On one hand the rental is a classic black Calvin Klein tux so if they already own their own black tux I understand them wanting to wear that to save $200 on renting. On the other hand I have seen jackets to different tuxedos have different looks and I want the entire bridal party to look uniform. Am I being a bridezilla? I am so torn on how I should handle this! Anyone else going thru the same thing??

totally not being a bridezlla. If you want it to be uniform, as I also do, then they should all wear the same thing and spend the money. They knew when they were asked to be in the BP that they had to rent a tux didnt they?

I definately think they should all be in the same tux. You wouldn't tell your BM that they can wear any dress as long as the color is right. Also, I think $200 is a little pricey. I don't know their financial situation but maybe pick out a cheaper tux.

Your def not being a bridezilla. I am sure they would be willing to spend 200 on the night of the batchlore party, why not spend it on a tux that both you a FH want them to wear to your wedding. PLus the pictures might not look right if the tuxes are missmatched.

No way would I let them do their own. That's like having the girls say, oh I have a black dress can I just wear that instead of the black bill levkoff you picked out?

Maybe ask them if they can take a picture of it. If it doesn't look the same then ask then to go ahead with the rental

I'm way to OCD to let them wear their own without at least seeing them first. I'd ask them to send you pictures of them and if they aren't REALLY similar to your original choice (taking into account the guys who would have to rent anyway).... then no. Call me Bridezilla. :)

Thanks for the support girls. I'm happy to know I am not having a bridezilla moment! I guess I'll see if they want to send me a picture of the jacket and we can go from there but you are all right, it needs to be a perfect match otherwise they rent! And I know $180 is on the higher end for tux rentals but we have to get them at Men's Wearhouse because we are out of state and need to use a national chain. We couldn't get a lower end tux from them because FH HATES the boxy look (as do I) so we needed the slim fit which was either the Vera or the Calvin AKA the most expensive ones. Hopefully they will get over it, its what you sign up for when you agree to be in a BP!

I hate how people are so quick to call us 'bridezilla' because we want something specific... Um hellooooo it's a wedding? Of course I'm going to be adamant about what I want.. Otherwise it's just a party in the backyard!

We went thru men's wearhouse too because half of our guys live out of state so its easier for them to get measured close to home. Did you get the $40 off each rental coupon when you registered? $40 off isn't a lot but every little bit helps.

I don't think you're being bridezilla at all. The groomsmen should be matching. They should know this. Can't wait to hear my FH's friends whine and complain that they will be in pink vests. LIke they didn't know that from day one. EVERYTHING in my life is pink. You have to wear it for 8 hours, get over it.

I totally agree.
Don't feel bad about it. It's a wedding and they should have known going into this that there is money that will need to be spent. And seriously, what responsibilities do groomsmen really have besides putting together a bachelor party and showing up the day of in a tux?

Haha I'm doing pink ties and vests too, with a dark chocolate colored suit. We've got some big rough and tumble. Guys too. They'll live thru it. LOL.

We are getting the best calvin klien tux they have at MH for $149, I had a coupon for $40 off each tux. Maybe you can negogiate with MH and ask for a similar deal. To be honest, as long as the label on the jacket is similar, no body is going to notice a difference between the Tuxes. Even in pictures. If it was similar I personally would let them wear it but I am very easy going and try not to sweat the small stuff much.

One of the groomsmen told me if I put him in pink i'm subject to verbal abuse. I told FH to speak to him or he's out.
Everyone will l ook like they're in pink anyway with my uplighthing so just shut up and deal!
