Two.. (count 'em), two questions

Original post by OctGroom

1.) Anyone on here use a wedding planner?

(For the FW and me, never even considered it.. and for us, there was no reason ever to. Kinda knew the direction we want to go in and didn't want a third party 'helping' us along.)

2.) Anyone else using dispaosbale cameras at the tables..

(The way we see it, the photographer just can't be everywhere.)

Thanks as always for your responses!

Good karma from this post! haha
I like that.

Here's a to all the control freaks out there.

Remember as it says in the Good Book, 'Love thy neighbor as thyself.. unless of course, they're trying to planyour wedding for you, in which case, give em a good kick in th a$$.'
JUST KIDDING!!!

PS.. I still don't understand that show on TLC where they plan your wedding for you and spend like 5000 dollars. What's up with that?

LOL, I was wondering the same thing when i saw tonight's show. All the weddings look so well put together and elegant. The reception sites must give major discounts bc they are on TV.

I think you're right.. It's gotta be all about the free publicity. Neverthless.. how could anyone put the most special day of their life and their life partner's in someone else's hands?
(Just to be on TV... no way!)

1. No wedding planner - but the hall we're using provides a planner to help us out free of chrage and we have used her for a couple of things

2. We're using table camers - one per table and some at the rehearsal dinner. I got them off of ebay for about $3.99 each and I used one to take pictures in low light settings to test it out and they came out pretty well.
I just like the option to have additional photos that I might not get otherwise.

1. No

2. Definitely doing it. My friend did it and she said some of the best shots were from those cameras.

no wedding planner from me,
i can get plenty of help from the boards for free

we are doing disposable cameras... they are great to catch extra things.
some people put these cards at the table with the camera.. they say things to take pictures of.. like messiest eater, oldest person, next to get married, etc... theres a whole list of possibilites...
also when developing them, some people have said they come out dark because the guests not using flash, supposedly if you tell the developing people they can adjust it for you...

1. No way. I needed to be in control of my own wedding

2. No. I considered it, but my hall is dimly lit and they would turn out dark, so I didn't bother.

1) no, this board is as good as it gets

2) I am having 2 photgraphers. I want them to do their job with as little obstruction as possible(that is why I am paying him). The last thing I want is every guest at my wedding doing photgraphy.

Re: Two.. (count 'em), two questions

I have seen so many girls post that they didn't have a wedding planner b/c they didn't want to give up control???

I had a wedding planner and was in complete control over every decision.
Having a wedding planner just meant that I had someone else to help me with all of the leg-work, research and logistics.

The ideas were mine, the decisions were mine and I, in no way, felt like I gave up an ounce of control in the way that my wedding was planned!

That being said, a wedding planner was INVALUABLE to me as I was getting married in Italy and there was a major language barrier, and basic lack of knowledge of vendors etc... on my part...

Anyway, I just wanted to put that out there...b/c it seems quite a few people have misconceptions about what a wedding planner does, doesn't do, or insists that you do (never happened)....

1) No- I didn't think wedding planning was that hard as a matter of fact it was fun and fairly easy so no planner needed here
2) Yes- we are doing disposable cameras on each table.

No to the wedding planner. I think there are enough resources online (like this site!!) and with friends for us to do it ourselves.

Definitely yes to table cameras. We're going to do a scavenger hunt. It's worth the extra cost, and it'll be fun developing pictures when we have no idea what's on them. Plus I have friends who have had some of their best pictures come from those cameras.

No on the wedding planner
But yes on the camera's.. Although most of them are a waste..I ran the day after my sister's wedding to get the 18 camera's developed right away so that my mom and her had some pic's to show everyone..

one friend was very creative. We have a picture of the salt and pepper shakers that were on the table, the mens bathroom attendant, a urinal, the trash can all in the mens room, the silver ware, shoes from everyone at the table, the dj's speaker. There was a whole roll of crazy stuff like that.
