two photographers or one

Original post by meara

I know a lot of the photo places send two people out. The guy I love is just himself. He will have another person for another 1500. Do people think that's worth it?? I think I am fine with one but then panic we will miss shots. What are you all doing?

we are having 2. 2 photographers are included in every package. I like th eidea of having 2 so we will have pictures from different perspectives

how many guests are you having? for smaller weddings 1 photographer is fine, if you are having a larger wedding then 2 photographers might be better.

I had 1 photographer at first, and then only just a month before my wedding i asked AG about getting a 2nd photographer. This is an extra you can get through her, and she will be the one who gets a 2nd photographer, its photographers she works with. I realized towards the end that maybe with the amount of guests i have that 2 can be better. But i also paid less than what they are asking you to pay for a 2nd photographer, maybe try negotiating that price.

I'm having two.. It was included in my package. Im having about 300 - 350 guests so I feel that I needed 2 photographers

I am preferably looking for 2, but may be OK with 1 photographer and 1 assistant who also takes some shots. Even though we are having a relatively small amount of guests (125-140 TOPS), I'm most worried about missing shots, if equipment should break, etc.

you also have to think about getting ready pics. Do you want pics at your house of you getting ready AND your FH at his house getting ready. If you want to have pics of both of you getting ready then obviously 1 photographer cant be in 2 places at once so this is another reason to have 2 photographers. No matter how amazing your photographer is this is impossible for 1 person to do hahaha

Another good thing is for example getting 2 points of view at the same time. Having pics of your DH's face while you are walking down the aisle, and then another camera just on you taking pics as you are walking down the aisle.

We are having two photographers. There is an additional charge of $1000.00 for the second person. The choice to have a second person was b/c we want certain shots that would not be possible with only one person- I really want pictues of FH as I am walking down the asile but then I would not have pictures of me! Also we have a lot of guests and I do not feel one person would be able to capture everything!

THANKS everyone. I will def check on the price. I am prob having about 100 people maybe a little bit more but don't want to miss things. FH thought the extra was a waste but now maybe we'll go back and renegotiate. Thanks!!!!

i'll say this: we didn't originally want to spend the extra $ on the 2nd photog, but in thinking about how the day will unfold time-wise, i see now that the 2nd photog is really going to cut down on time needed to take pics because we can have 2 things going on at once. we can actually go to the cocktail hour!

my package includes two. i think it's better that way anyway. the second photographer can get the same shot but from a different perspective, and he can get other shots that maybe the first photog doesn't see. i don't know, photography is really important to me
i do think 1500 is a little bit pricey though, is there anywhere else you can look?

I am having 2 photographers. The 2nd photographer will start at the ceremony. I also will have the video start and get the video of me getting ready. I got that thrown in for an extra $100 for 4 more hrs of video which is such a bargain.

I think the rule of thumb is that its one photog for every 100 ppl, is that right?

We are having just photog but he comes with a lighting assistant. We booked with Sherwood and saw their work done by just one photog and knew that our pictures would come out just fine. Also, we are having a small wedding (about 110) so for a small wedding, one photog is just fine. If the photog is experienced and your party is not too big, then you hsould be able to have all of the shots that you want and then some candids and photojourno as well. GL

I have two because of my package -- but also one guy specializes more in the 'staged' photos and the other is the photojournalist who is just going to roam around and take interesting shots.

We paid 1145 for a second photog, i want the second photog when my FH gets ready. and plus its nice to get two different great perspectives. Plus im not doing my pics at the RH, & i want to send the second photographer to my cocktai hour while the first photographer comes with us to old westbury gardens for pics. You should get too if its in your budget.
