I had an idea and would like your feedback. Please only answer/vote if you plan on going to TWOTY.
Should we; 1) Post the tickets for sale around 10pm on a random weeknight and whoever gets them, gets them? 2) Allow everyone who wants to go to TWOTY register over a 24 hour period of time - then have the computer select 200 people randomly?
I thought of this in an attempt to be fair to everyone who would like to go.
Either way there will be one table only for newlyweds.

...random drawing could pick people that either dont post a lot or just have an account set up to look up info. ....
I think a happy medium would be to set up a random computer drawing where only a SELECT pool of brides qualify for entry into the drawing,ie only brides with X amount of posts and their last post was made w/in the past 90 days or something to that effect. Then those user names are put into the pool and the computer can randomly select.
YEA I do like that idea - definitely a happy medium.
I don't think that's very fair. Just because a bride doesn't post as often as everyone elsedoesn't mean she should have less of a chance of attending.
I agree with this as well. I'm sure others are in the same boat as I am. I really appreciate this site and find it to be a great resource and just because I don't post as much as others doesn't mean I should be denied an opportunity to go to TWOTY
Just my opinion
That is exactly why i dont think there should be a post count increase in order to be eligible for tickets...
There's a difference between not posting all the time, 24/7 and almost never posting. Sorry, if you amost never post, I DO think that should affect if you get to go. JMO. I can see how other people would feel differently.

I think the random computer selection is much more fair since people are home at different times.

I dont see the difference... this site isnt only for people who post. So many other people use it just for the information not for posting...

Re: TWOTY
I was engaged in May and getting married in October. I have a 5 month engagement and did not know about this site until a month into my engagement. I have used many vendors listed on this site and when asked how I found them, I told them it was LIW. Doesn't my patronizing vendors on this site, encourage them to continue to use (support) the site? Without the vendors to support the site, would the site continue to exist? So, eveen though I do not post, aren't I a contributing member of LIW by using and referencing their vendors? Everyone that comes to this site is a contributing member, wether they post to the forums or not. I think the people that are interested in attending TWOTY should have to sign up and their should be a random drawing. And I think anyone interested in attending should be able to, nut just the people with a certain # of posts or length of membership.

Re: TWOTY
I have to say, I have less than 1000 posts, however, I have contributed alot to this site. Different links for people to follow and ideas. I would love to go to TWOTY, however, I would hate to go to TWOTY with everyone pointing a finger at me and other girls who joined not too long ago. I am getting married in 2011, so this is my one and only chance. I am sure Ron will do the right thing. I have faith in you Mr. Ron.

Re: TWOTY
I agree it shouldnt be based on your number of posts! I post as often as I can (for instance, I am home sick today so I've been able to kill time online) but typically I work and go to school full time and dont have the oppurtunity to post!! I, also, always tell my vendors that I found them on LIW!
I think the random drawing is really the most fair b/c everyone has a fair/equal shot!

Re: TWOTY
Personally I think it is crazy to just let ANYONE registered on LIW go to TWOTY since it is so limited. This is something that SO MANY people want to go to so having a certain amount of posts whether it be 500 or 1000 wouldn't be the determining factor- it would just set parameters which I think is completely understandable and helpful.

No one said it needed to be 1000 posts. No one ever said you needed to be on here all the time. and no one would ever do that to someone (I'd hope, I certainly wouldn't). A lot of us just felt that with tickets in such high demand, 100 posts was way too little... and LIW was the one that created the post threshold to begin with. If there's going to be a threshold, it may as well mean something was my only point. If you're gonna make it 100, you may as well open it to anyone.

Re: TWOTY
I do think there should be a way to allow 2011 girls top priorty on tickets (not just cause i'm one of them). But like others have said; someone getting married in 2012 will have an opportunity to attend another one. This is the 2011 girls last (only) chance. I started posting frequently on this board well after TWOTY last year so i had no idea what it was to even have tried to get tickets. I think the fairest way would do the random selection.
I know i'm not on this site 24/7. I don't log on when i'm home and i hardly log on over the weekends cause i'm too busy with other things. I'm sure a lot of us would be preoccupied w/other things to check the site at 10pm exactly everynight for a random amount of days (unless we know exactly what day they're going on sale). Allowing brides to register throughout the day; and then a random drawing (like the vineyard trip) seems most fair. So that people that maybe are away; don't have access to the computer; or just busy can still get to go.

Re: TWOTY
My vote would be
Do a random selection for the 2010'ers by the time the tickets go on sale 90% of us will be married. So those of us still on here will likely want to go and have the post count needed to attend. Being there is only 1 table of 12 for us, that IMO would be most fair.
Then set up the ticket sale time for all other future brides. Then it's first come first serve for them since clearly they have way more seats.
If this is to much work and it has to be all one way. I would vote do a random selection for everyone then. It's the most fair.

Re: TWOTY
TWOTY stands for the wedding of the year. It is a Wedding extravaganza that LIWeddings puts on each year. It is a full wedding as opposed to a showcase, so brides to be can see the vendors in action as they would be for a wedding. There are multiple vendors that volunteer their services to pull this off, and it gives a good idea of the different vendors out there (like DH and I chose our DJ after seeing him at TWOTY)
There are also prizes and lots of fun. The wedding party is couples from the previous year (2011 TWOTY would have 2010 couples, etc).
CS, did I get the description right lol

Re: TWOTY
I think random for the NWs because I am sure a bunch of us want to go and we only have a table of 12
for the 2011, 12, 13 girls, let them fight It is super exciting when you get on your computer and see the post about the tickets - I got 3 text messages and 4 emails from my liw friends telling me that the tickets were on sale, it was very EXCITING!!!!
