TWOTY

Original post by LIWeddings

No, this isn't what you think it is.

I had an idea and would like your feedback.
Please only answer/vote if you plan on going to TWOTY.

Should we;
1) Post the tickets for sale around 10pm on a random weeknight and whoever gets them, gets them?
2) Allow everyone who wants to go to TWOTY register over a 24 hour period of time - then have the computer select 200 people randomly?

I thought of this in an attempt to be fair to everyone who would like to go.

Either way there will be one table only for newlyweds.

I voted for 10pm...at least I could feel that I tried my best instead of banking on luck.

I really think random is ridiculous...first come first serve, atleast if I don't get tickets I will know I tried and it was fair because I was on at 10 and other people must have beat me, but if its random and there are a bunch of girls who barely post, or who are 2012 or later, who are going over me, I will be pissed, because yea while I understand they want to go, chances are those are NOT the girls who would have been on promptly at 10 if it were first come first serve. The people who really want to go will find a way to be on at 10 or have their mom do it for them or FH, but to just choose randomly some bride that would *like* to go, but really wouldn't care either way, is not fair, and this is where I think the first come first serve weeds out those girls who don't really care as much, or this isn't their only chance to go before they're married. The truth is the majority of girls with less posts and girls who aren't 2011'ers won't feel as strongly about it as the committed 2011'ers.

1000000% AGREE!!!

ahh, but you see, you created this thread to help decide the best way to handle tickets, and it is offering another option to consider, so therefore, its not unsolicited is it?

I will consider this - I have to look further. I wouldn't want to disqualify someone if they are a 2012 or 2013 bride and haven't posted a lot as of yet.

I'm sorry,IMHO, but that would just be too bad. They'll have more opportunities to go if they are 2012 or 2013. If they were a real LIW'er, they'd have enough posts. It's not that hard to get 200-500 posts.

I totally 2nd that. If they miss it this year they have next year..we dont.

How many NW tickets are sold. Is it NW by the time of TWOTY or NW when you buy the tickets?

Re: TWOTY

I totally think there should be a post min to be able to purchase tickets. People who post on here often and know what TWOTY is wait all year for this. Post numbers show that you are an active member of LIW. I understand that people work and have outside lives ( who doesnt) but at the same time some TWOTY is a huge event. Just like you have to have a certain number of posts to change the message under your screen name or you get a shirt when you reach 1000 I think the same should apply to these tickets.

Im wondering ... Is there any way to limit the number of 2012 and 2013 brides that get to go? Like how you do with the Newlyweds?

They will have 1 to 2 more TWOTYs to go to! Us 2011 girls will only have this one.

Seems sort of unfair

Amen, sista!

I agree with this, I think the year your getting married is the year you get a chance to attend the TWOTY

Lets keep in mind the reason TWOTY came into existence. It isn't just a party. It was a way for brides to be to see a soup to nuts wedding and get ideas for their wedding, win some prizes they could use towards their wedding and meet some of the other brides.

YES!!! I am desperate for ideas and nuts and bolts!! I work full time and go to law school in the evenings..im desperately trying to pull this wedding off in under a year!!

thank goodness for TWOTY!!!

when is the location/date/ticket sale info usually posted?? just curious if its a few months before or less??

JessNicole7EM Posted:

Re: TWOTY

Why can't the tickets be sold in tiers?

Ticket sales open up to people with over 5000.
then like 2 hours later, anyone over 3000.
then 2 hours after that, everyone over 1000.

All the way down to the usual 100.

I agree 100%. I'm a doctor and my hours are revolting, hense the need for a long engagement. And also why i voted for the random ticket picker, since i could very well be working at 10pm or whenever tickets go on sale. If the reason behind TWOTY is to get inspired, and see a soup to nuts wedding, then it should be for those who dont have any vendors yet. It stinks that the 2011ers can only go to one more this year, but for the most part they have all they need. Maybe the NW limit should be raised (i dunno how many people total go, but thats just a thought).
As for the minimium number of posts you need, i agree there should be a number....but someone recommended in the thousands...thats a little excessive. I'm on this site as much as i can and i'm not even there yet. People have jobs, families, non-internet lives...does that mean their weddingplanning or devotion to LIW is any less? I think not. Maybe 100 is a little low for a min, but i think 1000+ is a little high.
