TWOTY

Original post by LIWeddings

No, this isn't what you think it is.

I had an idea and would like your feedback.
Please only answer/vote if you plan on going to TWOTY.

Should we;
1) Post the tickets for sale around 10pm on a random weeknight and whoever gets them, gets them?
2) Allow everyone who wants to go to TWOTY register over a 24 hour period of time - then have the computer select 200 people randomly?

I thought of this in an attempt to be fair to everyone who would like to go.

Either way there will be one table only for newlyweds.

I will consider this - I have to look further. I wouldn't want to disqualify someone if they are a 2012 or 2013 bride and haven't posted a lot as of yet.

I'm sorry,IMHO, but that would just be too bad. They'll have more opportunities to go if they are 2012 or 2013. If they were a real LIW'er, they'd have enough posts. It's not that hard to get 200-500 posts.

ITA

2012 & 2013 still has time!!!!!!!

This is our time!!!!!!!

If u are a true LIW Bride then posting 500 is not a problem!

U know why I dont like random idea???

I would So be mad If me (as well as other brides) who ae 'Royal' and dedicated time here, WILL not be randomly selected... then here it comes a new bride with only FEW post and she gets it....

but if they raise the post minimum to...lets say 500...then a fly by nighter wont get the ticket and it would be fair

I'm sorry but I disagree. You are getting married next year and this is the only chance for you to go to the event. There are other people who will be able to go multiple times.

I understand what you're saying. There's no way to make it totally fair for everyone. I stand by what I was saying about girls who have been on longer and post often getting priority over newbies witha couple hundred post. (eg, a 2012 er with 2000 posts over a 2011er with 150 posts) But I see what you're saying. I wish everyone could just go

My opinion has nothing to do with post counts. I only post when I have something to say. I probably won't ever get a shirt! If TWOTY is to scope out vendors etc. why wouldn't people who are activly booking vendors get priority?

With that logic, you'd be okay with someone off the street getting a spot over someone with 4000 posts because they have more to book for their wedding? That doesn't make sense to me.

If you (not you but a person, theoretically) want to go, be a part of the community, advance the reputation of LIW, make it more lucratvie for the people doing good things for you. It's a symbiotic relationship. You can only do that by posting. DO you have to have 10K? no. But you should have more than 100, and Ron agrees or he wouldn't have said they were raising the post count. Again, I am respectfully disagreeing.

I did not even mention post counts. I was talking date. I think you have to have 100 to go? That makes sense and I have no problem with it. But as far as advancing this community let's keep in mind that quality is often more important than quantity when it comes to posting.

I was just trying to offer a suggestion to Jennifer's dad, I mean Ron.

You mentioned posting when you have something to say and not getting a shirt, which I took to be an allusiong to post counts. Like I said, I understand your point, but I lean just slightly the other way.

MORE THAN 1,000
Bc TWOTY shoudl be for the brides who are Royal to liw...
To those who are here all the time!
If the comp will choose me, then the post should RAISE even more than 1000

Well said! I post far too much crap, and I don't think it should determine whether I get to go to see vendors or not.

Right, which is also why the post counts should be raised. It's so easy to get 100 BS posts, but it's hard to have a LOT of posts that are all BS without contributing SOME substance in there.

With all due respect i disagree w Jamie, some of us dont live on LIW due to work, schedules, etc. This siteis blocked at my firm and i post from my blackberry and iPad a lot but usually if its stuff thati relate to or vendors ive dealt with. that doesnt mean im any less a community member than another bride whohas 6k posts. I voted for computer.

I agree ... there are lots of question answered posts but there has to be some substance out of 1000!

But you'll still easily clear a couple hundred posts by then, even given your restrictions. That's my point.

The problem I have is with epopel who sign up a week before, get a hundred posts and are good to go. Not fair. And that person might be a 2011 bride taking a spot away from a 2012 bride for the people who advocate restricting seats for future brides beyond 2011. Also not fair.

I understand not being able to get on often. I'mnot in school anymore and don't have internet at work. I'm not suggesting that the post count be exorbidantly high,.
