Type of dress for 'apple shaped' gals?

Hey ladies. Starting to think about my dress. Is there anyone else out there thats thick in the middle with no hips? I feel like the pear shaped ladies have the luck because they can buy a dress that cinches in the waist and flows out, but Id look like a meatball in a dress like that.

Whats a good type of dress for apple-ladies? Anything flattering with a little sleeve? My arms are chunnnnkkkyyy and Id rather not wear strapless.

Any ideas on this boring Friday?

I want the SAME EXACT THING.
I have the same body....and a decent sized chest, too.

Its not easy, I'll tell you that, but anything that creates a waist illusion is the way to go.

I've tried on 2 dresses that actually made me look like I had a waist! They were both asymmetrical waist, and corset back. I'd have sleeves added.



here's 1 of them: its maggie Sottero, Celine (please forgive the size - the dress was SO SMALL - I don't even know how I got it on). I think it may be plainer than I want to go, too.







And This one is Alfred Angelo - its pretty, but the sample was just too big on me. I couldn't get an accurate feel.

That was another thing I wanted to ask... adding sleeves.. is this relatively easy to do? Will it stick out if the material is not a perfect match? :) Tell me more Nic!

Supposedly A Line is flattering on everyone, and those assymetrical ones really make you look like you have a waist, and if you have a waist already, it makes you look about 2-4 sizes smaller than you actually are (at least in my opinion )

i think im gonna ask to see the assimetrical dresses when i start looking!!!

thats my body type as well....well ive gained some Wt bc of stress and having a baby!
but on me...im going with a V waist w/ a corset back, strapless as well.

I asked a seamstress friend - she said that most companies allow you to buy extra fabric, and seamstresses will use that to make sleeves. She said its not hard at all!!!

Nicole that first dress looks perfect on you! IT IS STUNNING! It may be plainer than you want but you can certainly jazz it up with some great earrings and amazing hair! It seriously is gorgeous!
