ok.. now my mom is making me feel bad about putting all the $ towards a honeymoon.
If it were you, what would you do? Double the $ for your honeymoon and go to Hawaii, save it and it put towards a downpayment on a house that you'll be buying in 2 years, or some of the $ and upgrade the vaca you were originally gonna book?

Re: ugh
For me, I'd save for a house. We want a house sooo bad, and I think that is more important. JMO

Re: ugh
That's a tough one - but in the end I think I would add some upgrades to the current honeymoon and save the rest for a house.

Re: ugh
i think you should be happy with your honeymoon ... if you're happy at the place you were originally thinking of, then stay there and save the extra money ... if you'll be forever regretting not going to HI, then just splurge on it and go
good luck

Re: ugh
you don't have an option 3 on the poll but I would do your third suggestion
Upgrade the HM and save half for a house.
Although I s uck at taking my own advice soooOOoooo..... take my advice with a grain of salt....

Re: ugh
Also remember... Hawaii ain't going anywhere. That's what Matt and i talked about. We really wanted to do Europe and KNEW we couldnt do Europe like we really wanted and it would be a lot tougher on us financially so we are doing our second fav HM and upgraded the room and added a day so far.

Re: ugh
I would go to Hawaii, but I already have a house. If I didn't, I'd say put half toward the HM and upgrade, and then the other half toward a downpayment for a house.

I put the money towards a house & do Hawaii for your 1 year anniversary. If you can get a home sooner rather than later, then go for it.

ok i might be a bad influence but my feeling is that you have plenty of time to save money after the wedding....but you only get one honeymoon so you should do it how you want.
so i say go to hawaii

Re: ugh
Thanks everyone.
The main issue was we didn't pick a honeymoon yet. It was between St. Lucia and Costa Rica but we are traveling in the dead middle of hurricane season which is our major concern.

Re: ugh
i am also going to be a bad influence & tell you to go to Hawaii. you only get one honeymoon so its my opinion that you should make the most of it. i am the one person who thinks vacations are such a waste of money & for the reason in the past 10 years FH & I have never, ever gone on an actual vacation.

Re: ugh
definately for a house - you can always go to hawaii after you are established - at least you will have a place to live
you will have an amazing honeymoon still if you dont go to hawaii

Re: ugh
was this gift to be used for your HM? if so, i would talk to the person that gave you the gift.
if they really want you to enjoy your HM, i would go for it! its a gift!

Re: ugh
Have a more low key HM and save for the house. It will last you alot longer. Although a HM will give you memories, so will your home. Making a home together is fun :)
