Ugh! girls, I need your advice....

Original post by GettinHutched

This is really kind of lame in the grand scheme of things. But it's important to me. As a music teacher, I follow this amazing method in which you study for two weeks in the summer for three years. It's not mandatory that you take it in consecutive years...but, to be honest, I'd hate to leave it for a year, that's how passionate I am about it.

This is the dilemma. I made a crazy suggestion to a friend (I think before I was engaged actually). We both took our first level here on LI last summer and we weren't all that crazy about it...we found another school in Virginia that we know we will get our money's worth from. So we thought of going to Virginia for two weeks in 2007 and 2008. Well...my wedding date is August 4th. The course in Virginia goes from July 17-27!

Would I be out of my mind to take a course in Virginia 3 weeks before my wedding, and return a week before?

My friend suggested we hold off a year because I might not be able to focus on the course enough with the craziness of the wedding coming up...but I'm so anxious to keep going with these levels! I can just see me getting ready to have kids in the coming years and not wanting to leave them! Ya know, life happens!

Be honest with me now...would I be OUT OF MY MIND to go to Virginia and return on July 27....when the wedding is August 4th? I personally would be willing to take the local course (which ends two weeks before my wedding)...even though I know it will be less satisfying and much more expensive.

Ugh girls...would it be doable or should I not even try?

Thanks so much for listening!

I think it is not a good idea......

this TOTALLY depends upon your personality and your tolerance for flexibility. I'll be away for 2 whole weeks in Chicago, on business up until 5 days before my wedding.
People think I'm NUTS.....but I figure that I have vendors doing all the work for me, I will be communicating with them just the same (thank goodness for email and cell phone), and I will still have a few days before the BIG day to do anything in person that needs to get done.
If you are that passionate about the music.....then go for it....as long as you won't feel so anxious that you cannot enjoy it.

I think it totally depends on how organized your are.....you should have a lot of time right before you leave to focus on wedding stuff (most schools get out around mid-june???) and that would give you almost 4 weeks to not have to work and plan..... if you think that you'll be able to get the major stuff done during that time, then yes, I think it would be beneficial. However, if you know you're the type of person that ususally procastinates, then I would be stressing about the wedding and not taking full advantage of the experience......JMO

if its somethign you really want to do, do your last minut wedding payments/arrangements a little earlier. it will all work out as long as u stay calm, cool, and collected. You'll make the right choice!
