I'm actually annoyed with the versus in the book we pick from. SO MANY Of them are about women being inferior and being a servant. I'm just not into that crap!! SORRY!! I know it's all religion and taboo to talk about that sort of stuff... but ugh I just hate reading things like 'wives should be subordinate to their husbands' and' 'the husband is the head of his wife'.
I know I'm probably opening a debate door. But I just can't agree with those things. I'm not even the hugest women's right's person... I'm totally cool with stay at home mom's who take care of the house and yada yada... but to me a TEAM doesn't mean subordination and having one member be the head. I feel it should be equal.

i totally agree! we used the 'stern as death is love reading' it sounded weird at first, but when you read the description it is actually a really nice ready. and we did the 'love is patient' reading - very typical but i was literally crying when my godmother read it. and thenw e did the beatitudes for the gospel.
Those are literally the same 2 I picked so far. I did add onthe one from jess as an alternate option.

I think a great idea would be to personalize your prayer of the faithful. We did that and so many people liked it! We tied in DH's profession and mine and soo many people thought that was really sweet.

I'm not stressed over it... I just don't want to cringe with the OBEY and SUBMISSION and he is your ruler garbage!! haha!! In all seriousness I CRINGE when I hear that crap!!
I like the idea of your prayer thingy. I don't know what or when the prayer of the faithful is. I'm soo lost with this stuff.

The Obey and honor thing you have to say in the vows (I think-dont quote me on it though cuz i barely remember my ceremony) so its kinda the same thing as what the reading is saying about obeying etc.
When you meet your priest tell him you want to do your own prayer of the faithful. If you want to see mine I have a copy I can send you that you can get an idea from

I had the same problem. I picked B-2 for old testament, and D-5 for new. It was actually nice because I read D-5 and my friend's wedding, so I asked her to read the same at mine :)
i didn't want super-duper religious readings or ones that said fear god or die, or ones that said i was inferior because I was a woman. So once I eliminated those, I had about 3 left. But hey, I'm thankful for the book because it makes it easy - wedding mad libs.

We with with these. We love animals and we made the donation to the ASPCA as one of our favors so it was a nice fit for us. It also has the name of our fav wine in there so we thought that was funny.
