........every1 wants to tell you what to do and how to do it but no one wants to fork over the $$$$

My FMIL ( who I happen to have a wonderful relationship with) had alot to say about how we were doing things. When I very bluntly said to her.....' You pick the RH, book the photographer, get my derss,flowers & everything else that goes along with this wedding............... PAY FOR ALL OF IT! Then your son & I will show up on time, at the place you want, with the photographer you like , dressed as you wish, holding the flowers you picked out! ' That stopped her & all of her 'why don't you do this & that' FH thanked me once we were away from her.
For all of the people out there that have something to say about who,what ,when & where listen to this...........
PLAN IT, SHOP FOR IT, PAY FOR IT, OR SHUT THE HELL UP.....................THANK YOU!

I totally agree, and the crazy part is that when we first got engaged they were the people that said to us, don't worry about what other people think/want do what ever you guys want.

I Agree! Who needs the aggravation! If they are not productive with the wedding-monetary wise and positive attitude...Dont Subject yourself to it...

We get it too. Mostly cause we are getting married and hour and a half away from home. We feel like we have to constantly justify why we are getting married where we are. After realizing people would complain if we were getting married across the street from their house, I just tell them this is what makes us happy, and I hope they can make it, and I change the subject. I used to get really upset, and a couple of people actually made me cry. So now I'm like screw it. Our close families are happy and coming as is our closest friends. ANd thats all I care about. These 'wedding and funeral' family members mean nothing. And they will all come and then end up eating their words. Of course I've already been told not to expect too much in the envelopes. Nice huh?

Don' they?! The best is when they compare what you decide on with what they or their children have done. 'Oh, my daughter did this, look into that, she used this photog look into him....blah..blah..blah!'

I know it's a peeve.

Just try not to listen to anyone else's opinions about what you want to do for your wedding cause the bottom line is... IT'S YOUR WEDDING... you and your FI should be the only ones making final decisions on anything. Let everyone else save their opinions and ideas for their own weddings.

For me, the only area I care to hear any sort of opinion from someone else is my mom regarding my dress because she is the one paying for it. She has a problem with me wanting to wear non-white shoes for the wedding, but I don't care because she isn't paying for it, plain and simple. She just has to deal with it.

Just try not to let it get you upset. We are all going through this.

FH and I have recently decided to give LIMITED details away about our wedding... as soon as we mention an idea someone shoots it down!! We want to have the wedding WE want not the wedding everyone else wants!!!

I don't tell anyone any of the ideas I have, so they have no time to get negative. I try to keep things a surprise, becuase I have no time for negativity.

I know how you feel. I am having an engagement party in 2 weeks and one of my mom's friends calls up to tell her ' I heard the restaurant where you are having the party has very small portions'.
My mom told her 'well make sure you have a big breakfast'
