I don't tell anyone any of the ideas I have, so they have no time to get negative. I try to keep things a surprise, becuase I have no time for negativity.

Yeah, its especially annoying when they tell you who you should invite when they aren't the ones paying for all the plates!

you can share ideas if people ask, but if you get negativity back, don't even pay attention to it. Planning a wedding you will be AMAZED at the amount of unsolicited advice you will get. Just smile, say you'll keep it in mind, and then do whatever the f--k you want.

We get it too. Mostly cause we are getting married and hour and a half away from home. We feel like we have to constantly justify why we are getting married where we are. After realizing people would complain if we were getting married across the street from their house, I just tell them this is what makes us happy, and I hope they can make it, and I change the subject. I used to get really upset, and a couple of people actually made me cry. So now I'm like screw it. Our close families are happy and coming as is our closest friends. ANd that's all I care about. These 'wedding and funeral' family members mean nothing. And they will all come and then end up eating their words. Of course I've already been told not to expect too much in the envelopes. Nice huh?

I dont talk about my wedding to people at work or in real life. If I do, I just tell them what I am doing or have done and leave it at that. The less they konw, the better because I dont want to hear criticisms or judgments (which everyone has!)

They arent the ones paying for it so why should it matter? The only opinions I am taking are those of FH, my parents, FH's parents and maybe the MOH and Best Man. Everyone else can just shove it...lol..
