UGH...my mom keeps complaining about my BM dresses!

As some of you may remember, a few weeks ago I posted a pic of what we decided to do with the sashes on the BM dresses (pics are in my album). We couldnt cut the sashes b/c our seamstress wouldnt do it, so this is what we decided on doing instead.

Well, ever since then, my mom keeps saying that she doesnt like it, it looks too big and over powering in the back, its going to get wrinkled when they sit down, etc. I tried telling her that I like it this way and that it'll be fine, but she's brought it up like 4 or 5 times since then! She even sent a pic to her best friend who also agreed with her I'm getting worried now that people are going to make comments about it or whatever. What do you girls think? Tell me your HONEST opinion please -- is it too much?

I love the way it looks!! I think maybe your mom and friend are just being old-fashioned and too nit-picky! The girls can move the sash to the side before they sit down if need be! In the grand scheme of things it's not a big deal at all!

*** just noticed the sashes will be pinned to the back of the dress. I still think it's no big whoop! I love the dress, I think it looks awesome!

all your guests will have all eyes on YOU and FH! not your BP... seriously! They will NOT notice..

i REALLY like those dress-your moms taste is probably a bit different than yours is-my moms the same way some of the stuff that i look at and love-shes the first to pick something out that she thinks is negative about it-keep the dresses if you really like them!

I think it looks great. I wore that dress for my friends wedding and the sashes were so annoying...love your idea and wish we did something similar.

The BM dresses are beautiful, I like what you did with the ribbon in the back. You also look amazing in your dress, but you have to smile.

thank you ladies!!!! I feel so much better. I was only hearing things from my mom and I was getting so worried that no one would like it. I guess she is a little old fashionned though because she also didnt like that it was strapless I love it and my girls love it...so im not going to change anything.

Ugh you poor thing- who needs that right now? I love how it looks- it's so unique. And yes, everyone will be looking at YOU!

I think it looks awesome! And its unexpected, which I like. I like when backs of dresses/gowns have some 'wow' factor.

And if your girls are fine with wearing/sitting in them, then your mom should be. Just remember, deep breath!!! Everyone and their brother finds time to comment on someone's wedding. Just tell her you like it, end of story. ((but say it in a nice way ))

I am going to be honest with you. I can say this bc you and I have the same BM dress...

I actually printed your pic and my girls and I brought it to the dress shop (Lillette's) to have it done. (that is how much I liked it).

They REFUSED to do this type of bustle bc in their experience (and this is a place that does LOTS of BM alterations) IT NEVER comes out right. They actually refuse the bustle the sash on any level for two reasons in particular:
1. All of the girls are different shapes and sizes. The bustle will look different on every girl not making it very uniform. Some girls have 3 bustle bumps some have two some have four. It almost looks sloppy and tends to fall apart bc the sash material is not designed to be bustled.
2. Brides have left in tears from the frustration and the seamstresses and management just don't want that to happen/deal with it.

We decided, just yesterday what to do. We are doing a simple bustle on the train with one hook and eye closure bringing the dress to floor legnth. The sash is being cut. The angles of the sash will be just slightly longer than floor length with the points facing down.

The dress train will be left down for some pics and the ceremony and bustled for the reception.

I KNOW your pain!!! This dress alteration drama has been going on for two weeks with my girls. I am sooo relieved it's taken care of.

OK, it might not be as dramatic as the bustle you posted but it's still pretty and very elegant.
