Um, this can't be customary, can it be? UPDATED WITH THE SECRET TO THE MYSTERY MONEY!

As EVERYONE must know by now, JT and I will officially be together again and living in NY, so his last day at his job was yesterday, but he got a call early this morning from the HR guy to come into the museum today and he couldn't tell JT why. So JT was like, um, I'm moving, do I really HAVE to? And the HR guy was like, well, you don't HAVE to, but it would be extremely beneficial for you to come. So he went and they gave him MONEY What's that all about? I never heard of that! He didn't tell me how much yet, he just called and whispered in the phone, 'They gave me money! I'll call you later and explain!' Isn't that weird? They don't owe him any money from his pay because they gave him the rest of that yesterday. So WEIRD! I never heard of HR giving employees who quit money!

That is really strange!!!

The only thing I can see would be if everyone chipped in to give him a going away gift and figured cash is always useful. But it was presented in such an odd way.

Maybe a going away gift or a X-mas bonus. If it was that was really nice of them.

Right? I'm DYING to know! I know that they were all really upset that he was leaving, and I thought maybe they were having a party for him today, but I guess not! A few of the guys he works with chipped in and got him a gift certificate to BestBuy. They really take care of him there, and he's such a loveable guy, so who knows I will certainly let you know when I find out what it's all about.

A few times I have left jobs everyone chipped in and gave me a going away gift which was very nice : ).

Also sometimes depending on your company's policy they sometimes pay you for unsued vacations days even if you quit.

But regardless never question extra money!!! Enjoy!!!

Well, the best part is he was negative some vacation hours from over Thanksgiving, so they already took that out! I'm sitting here WAITING for him to call! haha! I heard money, and that is all I cared about! With the cost of the moving truck, the repairs he jut had on his car, Christmas, weddings, birthdays AND saving for the wedding (haha, saving, what's that these days?), money is WELCOMED!!!!!!!

I think either his co-workers chipped in for a good-bye gift or maybe it's his some type of Christmas/year end bonus.

OMG!!!!!!!! JT just called and told me what the money was all about, and OMG!!!!!!! They re-instated the Christmas bonuses this year because attendance to the museum was up 19% this year! OMG, I CANNOT believe what he got All I can say is HUGE weight lifted off my shoulders!!!!!!!! OMG!

I was doing the happy dance, I can't even believe it! They haven't given bonuses at his job for YEARS. He had only HEARD about them We needed this so badly, and I am just so grateful! YAY YAY YAY!

When my job closed they threw me my bridal shower. They gave me money instead of a gift. I thought it was great because it helped us out a bit. Maybe as a going away gift they wanted to do something but could not find a tangible gift.
