Umm..Ron...about the flowergirls

If tey're doing research for the wedding and that's your contention, then why not skip the OT board and make NWR off limits to people under 18? I think that and at least TTC...flower girls don't need that and it allows for more freedom of speech. If flowergirls are reading this site, they shouldn't be on NWR at all, b/c it exposes them to adults and adult conversations..just keep the FG's on the BHB board...

Re: Umm..Ron...about the flowergirls

We thought about that except there are posts on other boards that reference NWR. This could cause someone to register just to see the content for registered users.

Just trying to play everything out so it all works for everyone. So, we decided to put up a new board for all the posts that children shouldn't see. Really expected everyone to have a better reception to this. The board is there so people can write what they want (more freely than it is now) and we can limit access to the board to registered users. Make sense so everyone is happy.

Maybe this will explain it better.

Young flower girls are always coming to the site to see what's going on and come across R rate material. Their mothers call me having a fit that they allowed their daughters to peruse a wedding website and come across pictures of sex toys, questionable language, discussions about what position you like etc etc etc. This new board is where that can be discussed. We are finishing programming that will not allow people to see this board unless they are a registered and logged in user. The flower girls are not registered users thus they can not see these topics. Thus problem solved, everyone happy and I don't receive calls from angry moms!

Re: Umm..Ron...about the flowergirls

Umm..in the past 15 minutes I've seen ads pop up for body butter (great prodcut by the way) and soem 'personal massagers' regardless of what board I'm on...

I think either LIW is for children or it isn't..but of course that's up to you...Will unregistered users not be allowed to view ads or vendor advertisements? What will Sinsational products do?

The reason I personally have a problem with it is that it just seems l9ike a reaction to people whining about recent 'drama'...

Re: Umm..Ron...about the flowergirls

Whining about drama! Who's whining about drama? We've had drama for a long time. Recent stuff is nothing compared to the old stuff. Just need to keep certain things out of the sight of young ones. Hey, we aren't perfect. Just doing the best we can with what we have.

Well, I never thought about any of this as inappropriate, because this site is for asutls pallnign theirt own weddings. So, I don't think parents should be so shocked.

I also don't think kids young enough to be flower girls should be perusing the internet, but then again I don't have kids.

So, I don't think the leisure activiites of other peopele's children should be something you have to change the sctructure of the board for, but I completely understand trying to reduce angry phonecalls. That is one of my main objectives at my job.

I think the main objection to this is just stemming from the confusion.

Good luck.

Re: Umm..Ron...about the flowergirls

Then why not just make NWR a board that only registered users can go on? I understand what you said about links on BHB to NWR - but can't it be set up that a nonregistered user would not be able to get the link to work?

Yes, but then they could be curious and set up an account. Just covering all bases.

Seriously, I figured this was the easiest thing to accept. People wanted to talk about R rate subjects and we asked them not to. Now we created a board for this and everyone is up in arms about it. Doesn't make sense from this end of the table!

They aren't perusing the net, they are perusing a site that their parents said was okay because big sister or aunt so-and-so is planning their wedding on the site so it's okay to go there.
