I felt like they kinda blindsided her by portraying her husband as being controlling..

this is one thing i just dont get. what did they do? chop up and edit a bunch of things he was saying to make it into one scene? in the end he still said these things.

not gonna lie when that steak was burning in the oven and he did nothing but complain i was really praying that it was FAKE

It seemed fake to me. It seemed to me like the producers said 'Hey, Sandra doesn't cook right? Let's shake things up a bit and make her cook!' I don't know that's how it happened, but it seemed staged to me.

i agree that no matter how much 'EDITING' is done, all these people still made the words come out of their mouths. be it acting or real, there is no reason why a boyfriend, fiance, or husband should ever speak to his woman like that.

And what man in their right mind would walk away from a fire in a stove sorry its just a bit much to believe.

'if my dog doesn't like it, then I'm not going to get it'

Next time I am considering something, I'll make sure my 4 cats approve.

That's probably the only reason my dog doesn't do it anymore, either.

Roz to answer ur question: the way editing can portray a fake scene is taking things out of their real life context.
example: if someone to film me and DH in a middle of an argument and to take out my yelling at him and put together with me begging him to do dishes from a different day/time (and taking out me talking about the dishes) would look as if he is a crazy azz that yells at his wife while she begs him
and that is how u get to see a controlling/crazies/wackadoos on reality TV
or by filming him trying to kiss me and I take away my face without showing that I was kidding in the end when we smooch. so it shows a frigid wife that doesnt like sex.

just my 5 cents from when I used to study this shyt

absolutely. u can make any kind of narrative u want w/editing. u'd be surprised how much news even is being edited to convey a certain story.

i agree that editing plays a big part in it but the fact of the matter is the words are still coming out of his mouth, or her mouth.

you cant edit someone to say 'your a fcuking assshole now cook me dinner', you cant edit him walking away from the stove when you can clearly see that its burning. you cant edit that idiot johnny meatballs wanting cub flyers as his wedding invites.

No.. but the producers can say, 'hey.. look at this invite we thought of. it would be really cool if you guys could pretend to want this and fight about it.'

You'd be surprised by what producers and camera guys can instigate and you have to b/c you signed a contract.

That's exactly what I think- I bet half these fights are orchestrated by producers to spice things up.

aboslutely! I totally agree with you on that part about the show instigating the drama.

my whole point to begin with on the other thread was why would you want to go on TV and be portrayed as such? i guess its a personal opinion, i mean i love watching ridiculous reality but i always find myself saying 'why would these people want to go on tv to act like d-bags? its not like its a scripted show where they are in character, they are trying to make people believe they really act like this.

I totally agree with you. When you sign up for a show like bridezilla's or '(enter word here) of love' you know what your getting into cuz you've seen what the show is all about. It's harder with new shows though cuz there's nothing to base it off of. And the contracts really don't specify how the show is going to be portrayed and don't gurantee ANYTHING.

FYI - I already FM'd the girl who started the thread to let her know there was a 2010 bride on that show.

this isnt the first time that a post about the show has been made, eta: with the same exact comments begin made... Sandra herself asked for honest opinions the other day...

i havent seen it so i cant comment... but i really dont see anything wrong with what they are saying...

Well, I think that's what kinda makes it upset me. I understand that Sandra knew that she'd be a subject of gossip by being on TV, but from her post it sounded like they really sold the show to them in a different way. I felt like they kinda blindsided her by portraying her husband as being controlling. And if I was going to comment on that thread, that's exactly what I would've said.

But, everyone is entitled to their opinions, so I still sit on my hands.

i totally get it... i just feel like if Sandra wasnt a 2010 LIW girl that this wouldnt even be an issue... like how many people rip on other shows like this... and dont feel bad about it... but they might if they knew the person... kwim?

Ack, just saw this Ang. It is absolutely because Sandra is a LIW bride and because we know and love her. I just feel bad knowing that she kinda felt badly about it, too.

ETA: And that she didn't think they were going to make them look like that. It just sucks. But it is reality tv, and you can't expect them to portray them as blissfully in love with rainbows and unicorns and all that. I get it, it just still sucks.

Re: ummmm... a little popcorn?

I feel badly if Sandra didn't know they were going to make them appear that way but with a title like 'My Big Friggin' Wedding' I don't know what else she thought would have been portrayed?

ETA: I do also realize they could have sold the show to her in a totally different way. So I don't fault her for it at all. But i know personally that hearing the title made me not even watch it.
