UNBELIEVABLE thank you card!!!!!!

We went to a wedding about a month ago. Just got there thank you card.--... it was a computer generated card that read the following: 'Thank you for the lovely wedding gift, and for sharing in our special day.'
Matt & Kristi

Everything was done on computer --including their names. They didn't even SIGN their own thank you cards! - I thought it was very rude.

My parents received a computer generated thank you from a wedding they went to a few months ago also & I also thought that was a little rude, being that the bride and groom just printed the same thing in everyones ty & mailed them out!

That's awful. It would be one thing if they icjed a nice poem and printed it, and at least added a little personal handwritten note and SIGNED it for corn's sake. holy heck. That's unbelieveable. I mean, you had to get your pen out to write out the check, they could have at least signed thier names. I mean, i know writing out thank yous is a pain in the ***, but you've gotta do it.

i agree, i think its rude. it shows a lack of apprecaiton on the bride& grooms part.

Honeslty, I just can't get over it! It is one of the rudest things I can think of!! We tookt he time to FLY to the wedding, buy bridal shower and wedding presents - as well as a little card and personal message to go with the presents. And they can't even take two seconds to sign their own names to the thank you card. The whole card --computer generated--is rude but AT LEAST SIGN YOUR NAMES!!!!!!

Well, at least they didn't ask the guests to address an envelope to themselves before they left the wedding

Wow! Of all the projects I create with my computer, the final Thank You card is NOT one of them! How can you be that inconsiderate of all the effort your family and guests went thru to be at your wedding, to not even send them a personal note?! So rude.

I got thank yous both done on the computer for a shower and christening gift - no signature, no dear anybody - and the envelope was addressed (w/ a label) 'Mike K...and fiance' Um, We've been together for 4 years, and this is his first cousin!!!

And I'm worried about hand calligraphy vsl. computer calligraphy for my envelpes...geez, some people don't worry about anything...

These may be just the 1st of the thank yous. Maybe they just want to acknowledge your gift without waiting for the thank you card pictures. Maybe you will get a handwritten one in the mail in a few months.

I am so glad this was posted! FH and I were in our best friends wedding in ARIZONA this past summer.. we had to fly there, rent a car, a hotel room, etc... needless to say we love him to death, and would have done anything.... Well... three weeks after the wedding we got a thankyou that was pre-printed (the same font and colors, style, as the invite.. ) and it was a generic THankyou everyone... and it closed with 'Mr. and Mrs. ....' .. no handwriting at all!!! And the best part was he put his full name (like his proper name.. which NO ONE has ever called him.. lol) on it... I was like ' Who is so and so.. I don't know him!' I was so annoyed, and everyone thought I was overreacting about it... no manners I say!!!

I ordered a trial batch of thank you's with a pre-printed saying it them. While I am NOT doing this idea, I had every intention of handwriting an additional message on each and every one.

PS - the reason I opted not to do that is because I could not shake the feeling that I was sending a thank you for a condolence card for attending a funeral. it just had that type of feel to it

I have to agree that this is NOT a good idea. One of my closest friends, at whose wedding I was a BM and have known since I was 12!!! sent my fh and I (who was ALSO in wedding party) a preprinted card with their pic in it and just signed their names. They didn't even specifically address it to us and didn't write anything.

More so than being offended, it struck me as just totally weird. These are people I love and who we have a great relationship with. They have great social skills---why would they possibly think this was OK??

People make the effort to come to your wedding and spend $ on a gift--they deserve genuine thanks...

Rude! I went to a Christening once and was handed a pre-written thank you card when I gave my envelope.--That was pretty bad!

I know! Can you believe that?!! I had no idea what to say. I think its nice to get a personalized message in a thank you note.
That pre-signed thank you was outrageous!

pathetic...i'd rather get a thank you late and hand written than some generated, pre-done crap. very crass, the art of the handwritten note was lost on those two that sent the thank you, and any genuine gratitude went out the door with the factory thank you of you meeting the expectation of giving them a gift.

well, at least you got one. I went to a wedding & never got a thank you. They just didn't do them.
I have read that if it is goingto be a while before you send thank yous you should send out acknoelegments that the gifts were received, maybe this is what that was?
