Re: Unexpected No's

Yea we did- a friend of the family- and no explanation either- it was so odd- I want to ask in the worst way, because its definately changed how I feel about them.

Sorry that they said no, but when all is said and done, the important people really will be there.

Oh Coleen, how about 20 people from FH's family, of which we thought 10 were definite 100% without a doubt and they all wrote DECLINED with no explanation. I'm more hurt than he is.

I'm sorry for you and Keith! I totally understand!.

Re: Unexpected No's

i know exactly how you feel. I had a friend who told me she would be there, reply no. She was from oot, but i didn't think she would miss it. Also my uncle responded no cuz he was going to Florida, and that really hurt too. I think some people feel like 'it's only one day, and i'll see them another time'. But it really did upset me. I'm not angry at either one, just sad that they missed the day.

Oh, I know the day will still be great. . I complained that I wanted RSVPs back, I got some back, now I'm annoyed at the nos hahaha.

I just can't imagine RSVPing 'no' to a wedding without so much as a 'hey, sorry I can't make it, best wishes!' in the very least. Normally, I would call and tell them why I can't come, before they get the RSVP. Oh well, I totally get what you are saying by it changing the way you feel about someone.

When it's someone you are close to or a family member...it's beyond my comprehension that you don't call or write a note as to why you cant' make it. I cannot tell you how hurt I was for us, but mostly for FH b/c of his family and two of his really good friends who can't make it b/c 'they are going through a lot' but we had to call to get that info. Way less Christmas cards I'll be sending this year.

Re: Unexpected No's

I got unexpected no's for my shower. So rude were these girls that they didnt even have the decency to even respond yes or no. they didnt even call, havent called since then, have not sent a card or gift - nothing.

My wedding invitations were mailed last week, and we have been getting tons of yes responses. I guess I can assume the same stunt from these same individuals for the wedding invites.

I guess you really know who your 'friends' are after wedding planning. But I am glad I found out how they are... These are so called good friends of ours.....

you know what I am gonna do with her kid's birthday party invitation? it's somehow gonna get 'lost' or tossed out with the junk mail.

I had a friend tell me she was coming and then I get her RSVP card saying she declines with not so much as a 'congrats' on it! I called her and left a voicemail. She still has not gotten back to me. It has been over a month. People just get weird when it comes to weddings sometimes

I am sorry for you.... but the important people will be there, focus on that

oh, i'm so sorry coleen

Thats horrible!

I mean - this isn't going to ruin my day or anything, but I'm kind of tempted to be like - gee, thanks a lot.

I thought keith would be more upset than he is, since its his side of the family, but he wasn't upset really.

I guess I'll just look at people differently going forward LOL.

Youll enjoy your day regardless. Do you think it could be because its on a Friday and maybe they have to work? idk...Either way dont let it bother you, you wont even notice them not being there

Re: Unexpected No's

I just found out the other day that my grandfather isnt coming. He didnt even RSVP, he told my dad. He said hes having trouble with long car rides and its a 2 hour ride from his house. I am really bummed since he was supossed to be in the wedding and i never thought he would say no.. I just hope hes healthy and that my dads not hiding something to spare me the stress so close to the wedding.

FH also had one of this aunts and uncles respond no. His aunt was just at my shower and she was all excited for the wedding so were thinking the uncle responded no without telling her. In the shower thank you i wrote so sorry were not going to see you at the wedding.. At least if she doesnt know he did it, it will clue her in.

Re: Unexpected No's

my old boss was excited to come (she even had her dress)...but her sister passed away suddenly (and unexpectedly) last week. her parents are devestated and since her sister's birthday would have been the day of our wedding...she can no longer come cuz she needs to be with her parents.

im sad that she wont be there and sad for her too cuz ive been talking with her about it for ages about the wedding and the details and i know she was so excited. but i totally understand.

Re: Unexpected No's

We received quite a few unexpected no's. Personally I was more hurt by the excuses they wrote for not coming than by the one's which said nothing. The excuses were poor in my opinion. Your not coming - enough said - I didn't need to read a dissertation on the really weak reasons why.

We also had to track down a number of people who didn't RSVP and got attitude from them. I really doubt that all those replies were lost in the mail.

In the end, those that came wanted to be there and had an amazing time. Our guests still can't stop raving about how great our wedding was. Those that weren't there, missed out and it is their loss.

Re: Unexpected No's

We received a number of unexpected no's...the one that really pissed me off was the best man. He didn't even respond just never returned calls!

DH received a text from him 2 weeks after the wedding to see if we got married!

I swear I never want to see him again!
