My boyfriend and I are music lovers. But we don't love the typical DJ songs played at weddings.
No macarana, no electric slide, no Meatloaf, Grease soundtrack, etc.
We want Bob Dylan, Ryan Adams, Tom Petty. Not your typical 'wedding' songs.
Does anyone have advice on seeking out a dj or band? Does anyone have any specific vendors in mind?

we're using Veriety Music (LIW vendor). it was a referral from a friend of mine who is in the music industry. Ray (the owner) is AWESOME! not cheesy at ALL.

You should look into A Starry Night. They are known for adhering strictly to your do-not-play list and tailoring the music to the couple's style. They have their music catalogue on-line and it is filled with a wide-range of styles, so I think they'd be open to non-typical stuff.

We used Big Hits Entertainment. They were great and did everything we wanted. Their philosophy is your day, your way. The MC Jeff checked in with us several times on our big day to make sure everything was just right. We even reviewed the time on certain songs down to the last tenth of a second to make sure everythingas just right for songs that were cued at certain places.

If you want a band, I had Niteflight and they are definitely not your average band. We loved them. No Cheese!

Try DJ Tom Gordon. He is a radio DJ who does amazing work. He just did our wedding we had rave reviews from people young and old.

Check out Bill from Let Us Entertain You. He will play anything that you want. I chose alot of non typical wedding songs to be played at my wedding and he played each and every one of them.

we're using FM Entertainment. they're a LIW vendor. We get to give him a huge list of what we want played (and what we dont...)
