unique manhattan receptions
my best friend just got engaged & is considering a manhattan wedding. she does not want a traditional reception hall or a hotel ballroom, she is looking for a unique location (museum, loft, restaurant) that is not outrageously expensive for around 125 people.any suggestions??

A friend of mine had her reception at St. John's the Divine. I believe it is in the 120's. She only rented the rooms there though... she had to bring in her own caterer. But she saved ton's of $$$. I think she ended up paying only $50pp.

I love where I am getting married. It is on the grounds at the botanical gardens, but it is an old tabacco mill. It is a really nice location(I am a little biased of course). Resturants.... New Leaf Cafe in Fort Tryon Park, La Boutraine, Tavern on the Green,Bridgewaters. Loft spaces....Loft Eleven and Manhattan Penthouse are the only 2 I can think of right now, but there are a lot more.

I remember a friend telling me a few years ago that the Puck Building is kind of cool for a wedding. It's been awhile, so I haven't checked it out, but figured I'd mention it.

I'm getting married at Tribeca Rooftop, which is an awesome downtown loft space (well, I think so anyway!
) I got a decent deal there, but I definitely wouldn't consider it to be affordable. Same goes for some of the others mentioned above: Bridgewaters, Loft 11, and the Puck Building. I've heard that the Yale Club is nice for a decent price, and of course, she may as well try calling all of these places - you never know what will work out! Welcome New Vendors
