im not wearing stockings either...just a pair of spanx to keep it all in!

and we are doing the anniversary dance in stead of a bok toss...its where all the couples get on the dance floor and the DJ picks them off like 'ok if your not married, off the dance floor,' then 'if youve been married less than a year, off the dance floor' on and on until everyone is off but the married couple.

I don't plan on wearing stockings...I have open toe shoes and I want to be as comfortable as possible!

We're not doing the traditional bo-k/garter toss but, I do like the idea of the anniversary dance...I haven't decided yet though.

As for the veil..I keep going back and forth about wearing it at the reception?? I might keep it on for the 1st dance and then take it off for the rest of the night. We'll see

I hate stocking and NEVER EVER wear them not even with a dress in the winter. I say your 100% fine. I am not wearing a blusher over my face either.

Its been said 100 times but YOU DO WHAT YOU WANT!!! Its your wedding day and no one else's when its their turn they can do what they want!
This is what I do with all the opinions and advice I get: I smile and say o thanx ill keep that in mind. THEN I DO WHAT I WANT ANYWAY!!! :))

I wore a veil because my religion dictated that it be that way. i actually wound up liking my veil, although I initially wanted to do not veil or a birdcage veil.

I didn't do a bouquet toss (well, didn't carry a bouquet to begin with! just a single white rose that my mom did in the 70's and I loved the simplicity of it) and no garter. My mom got me one for fun and for pics but that was it.

I walked down the aisle to an instrumental cover of 'Please Please Please' by The Smiths. It was lovely.

You need to find out what traditions are important to those around you, either because of religion or because of personal preference (this includes DH, who at first balked at my pink shoes but I love them and so does he now!). I incorporated family and religious wishes in my own way and it still turned out perfect.

I am NOT wearing stockings...I bought silver strappy sandles that I love. I am wearing a veil but it is my choice- My veil is finger tip length single layer with embroidery on the edges and I am NOT covering my face.

As everyone has said- do what you want!
Everyone is going to give their unsolicitated opinions....you know what makes you happy! Let it go in one ear and out the other. Maybe even buy a pair of stockings at CVS and say they are for the wedding....and don't wear them. No one will notice with all the hustle and bustle and you wont have to hear anyone's mouth.

As far as not wearing a veil. That's fine! You can get a headband headpiece (I have one also...don't like raised tiara thing) and that will look lovely. FH loves you as you are, you don't have to become anything you aren't- you know?

Do you have a photo of your dress? Girls here LOVE to offer opinions of what may go best with as far as accessories- a pretty bracelete, bouquet ect. Stay true to who you are. All brides are NOT created equal and that's what makes each wedding so unique and FUN

I'm wearing a beautiful veil that I love but I'm not doing a bouquet and garter toss. Also, not wearing stockings!

I like stockings! They hold you in! So I plan on wearing them. I have a problem with finding comfy shoes for later in the evening... because everything I see that's cute is flip flops which don't work so well with stockings!
And I want to wear the veil and perhaps a blusher as well.
So I voted NO.

But.. I think it's TOTALLY fine to not wear stockings.. I don't think anyone would even notice. A veil... I don't think you have to wear one. And PLENTY of people don't do a blusher these days.

I think it's completely up to you! Your choices are what makes your wedding just that.... YOUR wedding! Go for whatever makes you happiest!

I am going the traditional route! It fits my personality. The only thing that I am doing untraditional so far is not wearing a blusher

I am not wearing stockings. My veil is coming off after the first dance and I don't plan on doing the bok and garter toss either

I hate stockings and seldom wear them (probably only on interviews) ... I wont be wearing them to my wedding... I am wearing open shoes and the probably changing into sandals.

I am wearing a viel though and thats a personal choice, so I wouldnt worry about that.. I know plety of girls that arent wearing them

im a feminist and a tomboy. i hate stockings and have only worn them like twice in my life. i dont want to wear them at my wedding. i usually wax my legs, so they are going to be very smooth for my wedding, so i dont need to worry about that.

im getting a lot of comments from my family about this. i have always been like this, and i dont see why i have to make myself uncomfortable my wedding day just because 'im suppose to' wear them...


also, i dont want to toss a bouquet or garter. its pressure for the single women and men, and i dont enjoy that part of weddings. i dont see the point.

and the veil.... i definitely will not be wearing one over my face. i dont really want to wear one, but i may just wear a short one for the ceremony and take it off after. i dont care about having pictures with my veil.

does anyone feel the same way?

any comments or constructive ideas would be appreciated. im having a hard time with my family about these things. shouldnt it be my decision since it is my wedding?

I agree 100% with everything! I am soo not the traditional bride. No stockings, no veil, no bouquet or garter thing....none of it! AND I am wearing flip flops!! It's your day and you should do what you want and not feel pressured by anyone because of 'tradition'...tradition smition....its 2009 for God's Sake!

And....I am not walking down the aisle to the traditional 'Here comes the bride'. I will be walking down the aisle to an instrumental version of 'Imagine' by John Lennon!

Its your day do it your way. I am wearing a veil only because the last time I wore one I was having my first communion just thought it be nice to wear one. As for stockings -- not even close -- that's just one more thing for me to worry about.

But I'm all about making the day special for you - a lot of people are not going to like it but who cares can't please all of the people a lot of the time - but you can please you all of the time. Be a little selfish.
