So ladies, I have literally called all over. Either places are not booking yet or we are too small of a party for some places.
So here are our options:
1) Go with Fox Hollow, you have to pay in full now. With tax and gratutity its $52 pp. You all know the deal at this place
2) MAINE MAID INN - Same menu as Fox Hollow, $3 cheaper, I know I can get her down probably another $3. It is located in Jericho, so still pretty central. The deposit is only $250. The minimum would be 60, max is 115. You would need to put down $10.
3) Wait till early next year.
Really think about this girls and please remember these points: - There are no refunds, if you cancel then you need to find a girl to replace your spot. I cannot be taking and giving money left and right. Its not fair to me nor to you. - Down the road, I might ask each girl to contribute an extra $10 for tipping, decorations, games, etc. Put that in your budget. - Plus we need to purchase a registry gift for a bride to be.
PLEASE take the poll and let me know.
JMO - I think Maine Maid Inn is a better option for us. We all only have to give $10. Its an adorable place.

i think the best idea would be to wait until next year. most restaurants are not going to be booked 1 year in advance

i voted wait...yeah we might need to choose different places but there are tons of resturants on LI plus every banquet manager I spoke with said the prices usually go down as a date is closer approaching because a room filled at a cheaper price is better then an empty room for them.

Re: ***PLEASE READ: UPDATE BRIDAL SHOWER!!!!***
i would actually like to book now because then at least it would be a date that is set in stone and i would plan other things in my schedule around it. a year is going to fly by and us ladies already have busy schedules. and to add, we're probably going to have to put together different committees or appoint people to certain things to pull everything off. jmo.
ETA: I voted fox hollow because 1) i think it's better to get a full deposit so that it's final and you won't have to keep up with who left what (some people may want to pay full and some will only put $10 if the option is on the table...may cause headaches down the line)
and
2) I really want to try their food..lol

Ok here's the thing -
It looks like waiting won in the poll. But from what I am reading, it seems more girls are into booking it now.
????????????????????

I'm in for whatever we do. I would even give my full deposit if we did go with Fox Hollow... I also agree with Vanessa that it may be easier just to get the full amount now instead of you having to chase people later....
But i think some girls are more comfortable waiting just in case...
What are you most comfortable with?

I do think its easier if people pay in full now. But if someone is not comfortable with that, then taking $10 is also fine with me.

Re: ***UPDATE BRIDAL SHOWER!!!! Help me At bottom***
We need to make a decision. My own feeling is that you're putting a lot of effort into this and I don't want to make things more difficult for you...So I'll go along with the flow.
However, I can see some reasons for waiting:
1. We're still a relatively small group of brides. There will be plenty of new brides coming into the 2010 board for some time.
2. Everyone's budget is different.. 65.00 would be a lot to come up with, especially since the shower isn't for over a year. I'm leaving pieces of my money all over the place for an event that's happening in about 1.5 years.... it's the most uncomfortable part of the planning process for me.
3. If you wait, you may be able to find a better price at the places that aren't willing to book now and want to wait until it gets a little closer.

Ditto
When we have GTG polls only 10 people respond, then for a shower 27 respond? Maybe we should have thread, we everyone who is down for booking now or wants to wait has to actually post their opinion, that should solve our ghost voters!

Re: ***UPDATE BRIDAL SHOWER!!!! Help me At bottom***
Ok, after consulting with some 'veterans' on here and really thinking about this. This is what I am going to do:
- I am calling MMI and seeing if I can get the price down.
- By the guest list I complied previously, it seemed like a lot of girls were down with this, so if the price is good, I am going to book it, end of story.
- Prices are only going to go up in January, and the point of booking now is so we don't get charged more in 2009.

Right On! You are doing the right thing, Christine and I support you 2000%! Ladies, I am just telling you, but as for your vendors see who you can book now if you are a budgeting bride. I have inquired about a vendor whose package is current;y 2500.00 and because I am an 2010 bride he said he is not booking for that until next year and by then he estimates his same package to be 3100.00, yes a 600 dollars increase in less than 3 months. All vendors are doing this right now, establishing their 2009 Pricing lists to reflect the weak economy and various markets...not trying to preach but I am just looking out for ya!
