UPDATE ---------- How long was your Wedding Video?

Original post by billandme

Our videographer siad our video is done and it's 15 minutes long. Isn't that too short?

UPDATE:

Well girls, we got our video in the mail yesturday.......and it was as he said it was. SHORT! The main part of the video was 16.23 long and the bonus part was 10 minutes long.

It was a highlighted video, and in our contract, we were to have a full length video with bridal prep, photo shoot ceremony and reception. Well, I guess you can say we got all of that, but in a very CONDENSED version

I phoned them right away and asked them to explain to me why in my contract it said one thing but we received another? They told me that on our wedding day, the videographer's battery died and was only able to film the last 10 minutes of our ceremony He got our vows, but only the end part of them......when we were exchanging rings. He had to drive an hour back to his office to get another battery and missed A LOT of things in between being that he was gone for over 2.5 hours........... So we never got our bridal party entrance, we never got my husbands reaction when he saw me, we never got the majority of our ceremony..........we never got our bridal party shoot........nothing. I am so upset about this.

This is something that they can not give back to us. NEVER! I told them that I don't care what they do or how they do it, but we want ALL of the raw footage of our wedding day. EVERY last bit of it. I just can't beleive it!

Also, my sister wasn't able to make it to our wedding as she had my little neice 3 weeks prior, so she send an email speech that my mom read to me.....which I cried my eyes out while it was being read, but on the video, he started filming half way through the speech!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Anyways, I am just to upset to deal with this right now. They said they are going to try to get all the raw footage from our wedding and send it to us.

Our friends said that we can ask for a refund or sue if they don't give it to us, and that's fine and dandy, but that won't bring back the memories that we paid to have on our video, you know?

And don't worry, this company is not from around here........

Thanks for listening girls......I really hope this does NOT happen to anyone else!

Our edited video was an hour and a half to two hours. Our unedited one was much longer..don't know off hand.

Did you pay him in full yet? I sure hope not. I would tell him to redo it and 15 minutes isn't long enough and its not to your standards!

Oh no Kristy! I hope this all gets straigtened out for you! 15 minutes doesn't even seem possible!!!

oh NO that does not sound right! Someone F'ed up.

PUSH PUSH PUSH for that raw footage!!!!! because he might be covering up a big mess up, like, leaving some effect on the camera for WAY too long, or not paying attention and leaving the camera in one spot the whole night!

I really hope this is not the case but there is no way your video should be only 15 minutes!

Re: How long was your Wedding Video?

15 min seems very very short. THey ususally run over 1 or 2 hours. Are you sure its the video, maybe its a montage of your pics only????? Videos should capture and show everything on your day, 15 mins is not even enough to show your ceremony. Call them and talk to them and demand YOUR video, not theirs, once you pay for it, ITS YOURS, unless your contract says something else

Kristy, that is HORRIBLE!!! I am so sorry..I honestly hope he can recover that raw footage...

Kristy, I really had thought and hoped that all your pre-wedding woes were over - you had such a beautiful day!!!!

This sounds like a case of them royally scr*wing up!!! Why in the world wouldn't they still have the RAW footage??????? The wedding was LESS THAN A MONTH AGO! That is NOT professional. Get the video, check it out, demand to see the RAW footage, and if they messed up or 'thew it away' or whatever, sue their a$$es. I hope you get your money back, but moreso, I hope you get a great video!!!

I'm sorry, hold the phone

First... I'm amazed that in two pages of posts, nobody asked who you used for video.

Second... going by your pro pics in your gallery... you have what looks like the best on film wedding ever! There's no way in the right mind of any creative person that they would not go hog wild on footage for that! I'm nothing but an ameteur/novice photog and if I saw your wedding going on, I'd stop and stalk it!!!

That being said... who did you use for video? Have you looked into your contract? I have heard some packages that only include a recap video. Even still, getting raw footage was rare back in the day of my siblings even and they got it. But in today's day and age, there's no reason why you should not be able to get your raw footage. And they really should absolutely still have it if they've only just finished cutting your video! That's just crazy and mind boggling.

Some of these vendors have an odd ball sense of humor. Are you sure he's not trying to be funny? For your sake, I hope there's some explanation.

Good luck.

I agree - there is no way your entire wedding can be captured in 15 minutes! You deserve and explanation!

I hope it all works out.

BTW, your professional photos are amazing!

I'm pretty sure that she doesn't live locally .... I can't remember where, but I'm pretty sure Kristy doesn't live in NY. So ... I guess the 07ers who posted weren't concerned that this was one of *their* vendors. But even still ... you're right, it is odd that no one asked!

I TOTALLY agree with this, the pictures are absolutely GORGEOUS, and I'm sure the raw footage of the video is just as breathtaking!

I really hope this gets resolved for you quickly!!!

Re: UPDATE ---------- How long was your Wedding Video?

Kristy, I am SO sorry this is happening! They ROYALLY f*d up! You can actually demand all of your money (or at least a majority of your money) back even if they DO give you all of your RAW footage, which they better!!!

WHAT KIND OF VIDEOGRAPHER DOESN'T CARRY AN EXTRA BATTERY OR CHARGER???? Um, DUH!!! Obviously he knew he had to tape ALL DAY!

Again, so sorry. What complete a$$$$holes! GET YOUR MONEY BACK, GET YOUR RAW FOOTAGE!

Re: UPDATE ---------- How long was your Wedding Video?

Oh, I'm so very sorry this happened to you. There are no words to comfort this situation.

My only thought would be to maybe put the word out to your guests to see if anyone had a personal video camera or switched their digital camera to video for a second. You may be surprised. It will never be the same but maybe you can peice together the day.

You've not mentioned anything about compensation. Did this guy say anything about refunding your money other than you asking for your raw footage? When things settle a bit, will he rectify this huge mistake in any way he could? I know it's not the same but maybe he could insert a slide show of your pics to music of the lost moments.

I'm so sorry.

OMG!!!!! I'm so sorry that this happened!! I have to agree with your friends - make sure you get the unedited footage and stay on top of them.

I know they can't recreate the memories you had that day, but they will forever live in your heart, and when and if you have the $$, you can maybe contact a video editing company who could use your proofs, the unedited footage and give you an amazing video of what you do have!
