Update - I made an appointment with the eye doctor for April 30! I can do this!!! - Okay, I booked all my vendors, now I have to do something that I have been avoiding....
I have to make an appointment to see an eye doctor and get contacts. I have posted before about this topic, touching my eyes makes nauseas (spelling).
I tried contacts about 10 years ago and ended up in the e-room. I couldn't get the stupid things out of my eyes.
I need some support. I can overcome this! Right????

YES! You can overcome this!!! The mind is a powerful thing, you can do anything that you set your mind too! Tell yoru Dr. your fears, maybe he can work with you with getting the contacts out, he can practice with you until you feel confident! Maybe post on NWR< maybe some of the girls have experienecd this and can tell you solutions that may have worked for them! Best of luck!

Aside from having the Lasik surgery, contacts are the best! They have come a long way in ten years. I first tried them about ten years ago and I hated them - never wore them. I tried them again a few years ago and now my lenses are very thin and comfortable - no problem at all. Get to the eye doctor - you'll be so happy you did, and you'll be amazed at the difference.

Contact lenses are a LOT easier to use today than they were ten years ago! I think you'll do a lot better this time out. The disposable ones are very light and porous so that (a) they're easier to put in and (b) they don't dry your eyes out.
Good luck!

You can definetly overcome this, I have been wearing contacts for years, but I remember the thought of putting something in my eye made me sick. If I can do it, anybody can!!! Good Luck!!

Contacts are much more comfortable then they were 10 years ago. I could never wear contacts then 6 years ago I gave it another try and have been wearing them ever since. The disposable ones are the way to go and just relax!!!! GOOD LUCK

You can do it! As long as you think positive, you will have no problem. My mom had tried wearing contacts at so many different points of her life and she just couldn't do it. Then, when my sister got engaged, she was determined to wear them. And guess what, she did. Now she always wears them for special occassions. Think positive!

I fall into the category of trying and failing with contacts 10 years ago. It took me about 2 weeks to become completely proficient with them and then I was fine. Get some rewetting drops so they are more comfy.
I just wanted to add that if you just can't do this, don't worry about needing glasses for the wedding day. They have frameless glasses that are practically invisible. And you will look beauiful either way.
Good luck

Good Luck Sorry I can't really imput on the ease of taking out the soft contacts.. It's 'icky' as far as Im concerned.
I wear gas permible contacts. They are smaller in size and 'stiffer' than those gooey soft ones. There has never been a 'disponsible' brand because you never take out the GP versions. They don't dry out because their already sorta dry to begin with and get 80%-85% Oxygen transfer. Your eyes wet them. Being semi-soft means they 'pop' out and I don't have to go at my eyes with my fingers. Im always afraid I'll scratch myself. And GOD it hurts when soft contacts get dry.
I wear soft only when im replacing my GP's. So i can say this.... If you're going with the soft contacts, don't LEAVE the doctors until you feel you can manage the on and off process. I learned that. I just hung out putting them on and off. If I can do it with an audience I can do it at home. I finally got the hang of it after a week. Then I got back my GP's.
Good Luck.
This may not help but I usually talk myself into things. Like 'Hey if a 11yr old can figure it out I have to be able to give it a try' heh

You can do it!!! I had the same issue! My eye DR suggested I practice touching my eye. It really cant gross you out when you get contacts! He said alot of women find it a very easy transition b/c they are used to applying eye make up! Just practice and relax! there are still days I have problems getting them in but its much easier each time! Overall I still wear my glasses 98% of the time but I love the option to have the contacts!!!

I have been wearing contact for about 9 years and I have no problems, never did. Definitly try touching your eye before you go, and do it a few times so you are comfortable with it..maybe it will help...I wear the soft and never have any problems...I love them!!! It will be exciting when you wear them and they are comfortable, you will feel like you can SEE!

Practice using them ahead of time. It gets easier and easier and easier. I can now put mine in, take them out while I'm walking without a mirror - if I wanted to. They make such a huge difference. Don't go into it thinking you can't do it, go in thinking you can.

You can do it! My Fi had the same problem and with a bit of patience he was able to master wearing contacts. I've worn them for 15 years and can't stand wearing glasses!

Once you get the hang out of wearing contacts is a breeze! I've had them since I was in 8th grade. It takes a while to get used to getting them into and out of your eyes but once you do its nothign!
Good luck, I'm sure you'll do fine :)
