UPDATE ON MY MISSING PHOTOGRAPHER

ok - so i went to the address and it was a diffferent studio name. it said art-istic images. i thought maybe he worked out of that office, i wrote the number down and called it and spoke to artie - the owner. i told him i was looking for tommy meyerz and he never heard of him!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! i told him that on the studio 790 website it has that address- he looked it up himself while on the phone with me and could not believe another photographer was using his address. he was so great and offered to call ************** for me- who tommy claimed he worked for. they said they let him go a year ago and refused to give any information out. he also called his developing studio and they never heard of him.
i have to get a hold of drues_girl b.c her wedding is this october.
i am going to call the virginia chamber of commerce to see if they have info- and also do a reverse search for the address listed there.

THIS SOUNDS LIKE A SCAM TO ME! but my wedding is a yr away- drues_girl's wedding is a month away!!! i should post on the 10 forum too!

WHAT!!! OMG-so SORRY You're going through this!! $1,500 is a lot of money to be at a risk for loosing!!

She said his own co was Studio 790 but he used to work for Brett*Matthews and they won't give her info about why they let him go or where he is.


That's probably his wife or something, they are both scamming people and using other ppl's info off of each other... She should give information because it's gonna ruin her reputation as well... That is just WRONG!

ps. please don't ever give $1500 for a deposit.. the most you should pay a deposit is for the RH...

Nothing personal, I'm just wondering why give that much?? Maybe it's in relation to your wedding budget... but still shouldn't require a lot to 'book'...

From what I understand, a lot of girls use Brett*Matthews and have no problems... they might not want to give her info about letting this guy go because a) it's unprofessional if they had a disagreement, they might even have legal action pending and b) they might nit be able to tell her anything about where he is.

What did you have to leave though? Cause our photog wanted $1000 and our DJ wanted $1300 based on our package and our vendors aren't incredibly expensive and those deposits weren't out of the norm.

1/3 is not bad, I guess it's all relative... I've only paid 20% of my totals as 'booking' deposits... the other payments vary from 2 months before, 6 months before, 2 weeks, 1 week...

to answer your questions

looked at my contract again- only gave 1000 deposit- thought it was 1500. and that is 1/3 of the cost which is normal.

he worked for brett*matthews and had his own co called studio 790 photography. i hired him under his co not brett

i am waiting for 2010 girls to get intouch with the girl who is using him next month- to see if she has more updated info than i do...

Okay good. Im not the only one. all of these vendors are making me nervous. I cant believe they actually pull this crap on ppl and believe they are going to get away with it!

honestly this isn't how things usually go. The only problem, I had years ago when I was married was w my florist. The flowers were the wrong color. they were beautiful but wrong. Everyone showed up and did what they were paid to do.

omg- I seriously cannot believe this is happening. Do what I suggested and see whether he's still using the same address. Also, see if he would meet w/ you. Obviously, don't go by yourself.
How long has that place Art-istic been there? Did the owner mention how long he's been located at that address?
