UPDATE: So wish me luck...I'm talking to my BM tonight

I know this has been controversial, but I need to talk to my BM and AT LEAST bring it to her attention that she needs to get help. She is not eating, sleeping 12+ hours a day, and is just sickly thin (I can see her spine). I'm going tonight, and I'm hoping to let her know that I think being in the BP may be too much for her given her health. Hopefully she'll want to come as a guest. I think I need to be gentle but definitely firm so that she knows that this needs serious attention. I hope she gets the help she needs. Even if she never speaks to me again, if this makes her get help, then it was worth it. I'm so dreading this

UPDATE:

I went to talk to my BM, and apparently she has been going to the doctor every 2 weeks and is now on anti-depressants. It takes a few weeks for them to kick in and start to work. The last time I saw her she got sooo sick from drinking at my bachelorette party. But she looked a lot better today and is sleeping normal hours and eating meals again. I'm going to keep an eye on her of course, but she is doing much better.

You are a great friend for giving it this much thought and consideration. I hope she gets the help she needs.

I think you are doing the right thing. Good luck. It sounds like your friend really needs to be hospitalized.

This is what I am thinking. I'll even go with her to the hospital if it means she'll get help.

Seriously good luck. Try to get her to a hospital before it's too late for her. Her prognosis sounds really bad to me. She is seriously going to starve to death from the way that you are describing it.

I know. And she's shaking, which I take to be a bad sign too.

Doesn't she have any family? She needs to go on an IV. I had a friend that needed to be hospitalized a few years ago and she wasn't even as far gone as your friend. I don't want to see a post on here from you that starts, Bad News...Why not just call her an ambulance?

She's mobile, but she shakes. I know, it's bad. She's in grad school with me and her family is out of state. I think I'm the only one in the area that she is close friends with. She has some other friends not too far but I don't know them, not even their names. She has a lot of online friends that she meets from chat boards.

how much do you thinks she wants to be in your wedding? could you make it an ultimatum? like if you go get help, you can be in the wedding, if you don't get help, you can't be in it? do you thnik something like that would work, rather than just 'kicking her out'?
it sounds like shes in seriously bad shape... and i would do anything you can to get her to a hospital soon.... ( although, i have alchoholics in my family, so i understand with things like this nothings going to happen unless they want to help themselves)

My FMIL thinks that I can't be too harsh with her since she's fragile. I don't know if an ultimatum would work. I can't see how much she could be in the wedding, given her depression. I don't think she wants to do anything right now.

In October when we ordered BM dresses she was an 8, now, she said she just tried on a pair of jeans and they were a 0.
