umm...a lot of people on here do very beautiful candle centerpieces. Or some other kind of centerpieces. You don't need flowers. Do something unique that screams 'you!' Who cares if anyone else likes it? It's YOUR wedding!!

If they want flowers, they can help you pay for them. End of story. Don't let people bring you down! It's your wedding and you get to do it however you want!

You don't have to do anything you don't want to. It's your day. If you still want some kind of CP. What about a candle in like a hurricane glass? I am sure you can find them cheap in michaels. they have them on sale sometimes. I know what you mean about the flowers. there there for a few hours and not worth it at all. But they do make the room look nice. but I htink the candle thing is nice also.
i love this CP. I would have done it and saved myself money if i could go back. The honeymoon is more important! You're making a good decision.

your 1st class wedding!
I love the Skylight room at Jericho Terrace! If we didn't book CBC, we would've done JT. The rooms at JT are so beautiful and impressive and they give so much great food-- that's what people remember, not the centerpieces. The BM at JT had told us that candle centerpieces look great in their rooms. You'll have a gorgeous wedding! The important things to me are your love, food and the location which you have :)

You will get through it. You and your FH must decide what is important to you and just do the best that you can.

Your wedding is YOUR'S! I do know how you feel. I keep comparing myself to other people on this site, but then I realize how much of a waste say a $3K wedding gown would be for me. I'm an older bride so that may be why. I've become bitter and practical. Ha ha. I'd love a Photo Booth, do I truly need one? No.
As long as the food is good and people have fun that's truly what's important as well as celebrating the union of you and your FH.

OHH THIS IS A NICE ALTERNATIVE IF YOU ARE LOOKING TO CUT COST.. DONT WORRY GURLLL..PPL SHOULD BE THERE TO CELEBRATE YOUR UNION WITH YOUR HUSBAND,, NOT TO LOOK AT A CENTERPIECE.. BEFORE I WAS ENGAGED I DIDNT EVEN NOTICE THOSE SMALL DETAILS.. DONT FEEL BAD,, IT WILL BE PERFECT BEAUTIFUL REGARDLESS..

tell them to bite your ASSS!
We are not having flower centerpieces either. I don't like flowers, i didn't want to spend money on them... and guess what, myself as well as my family are avid NY wedding goers. If any of them have a problem, they can leave.
Don't let the asshats bring you down sweety. Your wedding is going to be fabulous whether you have flowers or not!!
UGH. I get so mad reading about stuff like this, b/c who the heck do these people think they are?!

Just adding my voice to all of the above. There are beautiful non-floral centerpieces out there, and not having flowers does not make your wedding second-class. What makes your wedding special is you and FH joining together.

You do what you can afford!
Don't worry what others think - the best is that you found your soul mate that is all that matters none of the GLITZ and GLAM won't matter at the end of the day.
Real happiness is where your heart is not the money! It just makes things a little easier and yet also harder when you have it.

While I am obviously in the minority-I do remember the CPs from weddings I have been too-but you know what...some of them werent anything to write home about, nice but nothing special. You do what you want, flowers dont make or break a wedding-that is BS from someone on the outside looking in. You do what you can afford to do and what you would like. Period. It doesnt make your wedding second class at all. There are other things that are more important then flowers...ignore ignorant people!!!

Now, FH is reconsidering flowers and wants to 'find the money'. I suggested he search his pockets and his mothers, mine are tapped!

while this is so very true, and you feel that way along with a lot of other brides, answering to what everyones expectations are is a little overwhelming.

I fear for the lives of any person who slips and says anything negative in the presence of my family............especially since no one hear knows my family well at all.

yea....your bank is closed and the well is dry!
My mom was telling me that one of my cousins had gotten class cubes and put some stones on the bottom, put water in them and put a beta fish, and some she did just water and put floating flowers in it...I think she used carnations and one other flower....She went to Stop and Shop and just bought a few cheap boks and cut the tops off...my mom said that my aunt pat sd they did them for maybe 100.00
Stop and Shop has done some weddings incredibly reasonable
