I have come to realize that we just don't have enough money to throw a decent affair. I am not complaining, I am just being honest.
Yesterday and friend of mine told me,'flowers are what make a wedding special and beautiful.'
WE'RE NOT HAVING FLOWERS!!
If we put a floral CPs on our table it will take away money from our honeymoon, it's as simple as that.
I can't win.
I am scared of being ridiculed and humiliated by avid NY wedding goers, seriously I lose sleep over this.
I really want to tell everyone in advance to give me a break, we did the best we could on our blue collar salaries

here is a photo of the crystal bowl we are using on our tables. I have class, I just don't want to spend a butt load of money on flowers because they die!

Re: my 2nd class wedding
My mom was telling me that one of my cousins had gotten class cubes and put some stones on the bottom, put water in them and put a beta fish, and some she did just water and put floating flowers in it...I think she used carnations and one other flower....She went to Stop and Shop and just bought a few cheap boks and cut the tops off...my mom said that my aunt pat sd they did them for maybe 100.00
Stop and Shop has done some weddings incredibly reasonable
heres the problem, we already bought 900$ worth of crystal to put on the tables! We have them they are ours. I bought candles at crate and barrel as well, we just need a little something extra for the bowls. We originally had Gerbs in them, but I am not feeling the Gerbs. I wanted petals in burgandy and dark orange and that is how this whloe shenannigan got started. We have center pieces, just don't know what to put around the candle without going broke!

Re: my 2nd class wedding
I didn't do flower centerpieces. I did candles on a really pretty silver platter. I got everythign from IKea and spent $283 for 15centerpieces adn everyone loved how different they were! They made the room 'GLOW' and I don't think my even was any less classy or formal.
People will ALWAYS give usolicited advice in life, it is your job to pick and choose what information stays with you and what information goes in one ear and out the other,..................
It's NOT money that makes an event put the people, love and overall feel of th day!
I hope you can learn to find joy in what you do have (you are marrying the love of your life, not everyone gets that) and learn not to dwell on what you lack!

Re: my 2nd class wedding
Everyone will tell you what you want to hear but Im going to be honest...when you do things trying to cut corners most of the time (not all) it is noticeable. For example, I went to a wedding about two years ago, the bride was on a budget, so she used silk flowers, candle centerpieces, and did some other things to cut cost and it did look cheap. Now I fully understand that everyone can not afford to throw a expensive wedding but I think that if you are going to try to cut cost you have to be very very careful in the things you choose. Ive also seen weddings on here that were not expensive at all and were beautiful. The bride was sure to pick things that looked like she spent alot of money but actually didnt. I hope I didnt offend you or anyone.

I appreciate your candor, but yeah, not helping at all............lol
like I said, we bought crystal, if thats not classy I don't know what is?
The fact that my friend told me that we weren't doing ornate floral displays is what killed me!

Re: [[ * updated * ]] my 2nd class wedding
mrsk,
i understand how u'r friends comment can disturb you.. amazing but someone's comment can make u think twice about something.. BUT... think back to the weddings u've been to.. and describe the centerpiece at ANY of them. i've gone to 4 weddigns in the past 2 yrs and cna't remember not one flower petal.
keep in mind, that the wedding is one day. the marriage is forever.. don't stress it.. get some candles, and some crystals, and some something else.. lol. and it'll be fine..

I think it's beautiful...It's not like you aren't putting anything in the middle of the table. Gheez...I think it's nice that you aren't going with the normal expectation of flower centerpieces, shows your individuality.

Re: [[ * updated * ]] my 2nd class wedding
your right - flowers die or get thrown away and candles and crystal can be just as nice. I dont remember CPs at weddings anyway.
Dont feel that you wedding will be 2nd class b/c you dont have flowers on your tables..whatever you do will be beautiful.
If anyone tells you otherwise, you can just break your second class crystal CPs over their heads

You don't have to do anything you don't want to. It's your day. If you still want some kind of CP. What about a candle in like a hurricane glass? I am sure you can find them cheap in michaels. they have them on sale sometimes. I know what you mean about the flowers. there there for a few hours and not worth it at all. But they do make the room look nice. but I htink the candle thing is nice also.
i love this!!!! very elegant!

its only b/c you make such great points, seriously who cares about the flowers or cry packs, its about a marriage, uniting of 2 to 1, love of family and friends and making everlasting memories which will be passed down for generations....
no one will remember the color of your flowers or the size of the centerpiece but they will remember who was there, why they fell off of their chair laughing, the tears they cryed during your introduction as man and wife...

First of all, your idea looks very nice. Not everyone wants/has flowers, and there is nothing wrong with that. However, I would not call your wedding second class-although I imagine your intent is not to be hurtful, you must remember that there are a lot of girls here who don't have flowers either or who can afford very little but their weddings are lovely. Calling your wedding second class, which I am sure it is absolutely not can be hurtful to other girls. Don't let other people make you feel like cr@p, but be careful how you word things, because they could make other girls feel badly. Look how some dumb@ss made you feel, and that is so silly!
