Did your RH require insurance for all your vendors? If so, did all your vendors have comply?
My first videographer had insurance. My second does not I did not realize this until after I booked him.

Re: Insurance Question
Yes, my RH requires insurance from all vendors that will be stepping foot inside the property, but I also have to supply them with the name, rank, and serial number of ALL vendors I've hired, including limo, which makes no sense to me, but whatever. DJ is house so their's is on file, but photo/video and florist will need to provide theirs.

Re: Insurance Question
I am waiting for my banquet manager to get back to me. I am freaking out. I already gave deposit to videographer. I am seriously at the stage where I hate this wedding.

Re: Insurance Question
All of our vendors were required to have insurance and they had to provide a copy of their insurance certificates to the RH.

Re: Insurance Question
So we have our vendor looking at insurance now. I really hope he gets it because otherwise we cannot use him and we are out 300 bucks for deposit. Thats in addition to the 500 we are out from the other videographer that we decided to down-grade from.
So if this videographer doesn't get insurance we are out 800 total and have no video to show for it!!!!
I am so upset. Please say a prayer that it works out...

I am just paranoid that if I take that chance I am going to have an issue the day of the wedding. I just don't think my nerves can handle one more thing. I am shot.

Re: UPDATE...insurance problem
Most RH's require that any vendors coming in with any type of equipment have insurance. Some require that all vendors no matter what or who have insurance.

If he can't get insurance he has to refund you the money. It's the only reasonable thing to do. You booked him in good faith that he was professional and knew local expectations. HE should have done the research, called and been in touch with your venue and taken care of things.

My RH also said that if the vendor has no insurance they have to fill out some liability form from the RH, so maybe that's something they can do for you.

Re: UPDATE...insurance problem
If he doesn't have insurance I would be leery of him anyhow. Its unprofessional and I have never heard of an RH that didn't require proof of insurance, so you would have to wonder how much experience he actually has.

My photographer has worked with this videographer several times and I have seen his work and its beautiful. He is realtively inexpensive and new in the business. He is also very young comparitvely. He is also a freelancer, so I am not dealing with an established company.
FH and I originally booked with a very expensive videographer... but have since put a bid in on a house and cannot afford super expenisve anymore.
So am I doing the best we can we the funds that we have.

Re: UPDATE...insurance problem
mine does and i had to give each vendor a letter explaining the RH's policy, but most of my vendors have already been to my venue so they were familiar with their policies

the vendors may have sent it over on their own and thats why you never knew about it.....It is very typical that the RH requires insurance from any vendor that will be onsite. If the video person has done wedding in the past im sure he has had to get insurance. He can get a one day policy.
