upset by people I wouldn't expect... (vent)

So since the day FH & I picked out wedding day FMIL has given crap 'oh you picked a monday noone will go, they'll have better plans, its a bad weekend' I just spoke with my cousin before & she was telling me my aunt was saying 'what if people have work' ... People work on Fridays, Saturdays & Sundays as well as every other day during the week.. I don't understand why it's such a problem.. We wanted to be different & also save a little money. & it's just like having a Sunday wedding.. just it's on a holiday (most) people have off

Is it really that terrible to be having the wedding on Labor Day?

not at all!!!!! My FH works construction and they work weekends but we stll are getting married on a Saturday. People work every day of the week. I went to a wedding on Memorial Day one year and the couple still had over 150 people. I think people complain to complain rather than be happy and supportive.

Not at all. I know many people who got or are getting marry on labor day. The majority of the people are off. Plus if they love you, they will be there no matter what day you select.

We even asked the RH if we were crazy for thinking that day & he said not at all & that if we don't pick that day someone else will.. he said for weekends like that weddings go from thursday till monday. I am so beyond excited about the wedding & things like this just upset me so much!! I know if they love us & wanna have a good time they'll come.. I try to bite my tongue but one day I don't think I'll be able to

honestly - people will come no matter what day. And what I have learned in my almost 4 months of being engaged is that people will complain about everything and anything. You can't please everyone so in my opinion you should just please yourself and FH

I think thats a good day to be married! It will be just like a Sunday wedding. Most people do have it off. I wouldn't sweat it. Don't let those complainers get you down! For every complainer you hear about...you probably have like 20 more guests just excited to come to your wedding. No worries!

I wouldn't mind going to a wedding on a Monday Holiday... People have New Years Eve weddings all the time and you never hear others complain because it's on a weekday..... People are just complaining cuz they aren't used to it. Just take a deep breath and ignore the whiny complaints.

Thanks ladies for bringing me back to my senses! I know that theres the few people & family members that have said to me that they can not wait for our wedding day but its the people I least expect to say this crap.. We actually invited more than we planned now but it'll be our luck that most of them do show...

I went to a wedding on memorial day OOT. It was a little annoying to have to also take the Tuesday off; and then deal with all the traffic BUT keyword is that I WENT. I would never NOT have gone just because it was a holiday/ Monday! Still danced& partied until the night ended! So don’t worry!! You can't please everyone and someone will always find something to complain about!

People are going to b i t c h no matter what you do so just do what makes you and your FH happy because in the end your opinions are the only ones that matter

I agree! It's YOUR day and someone will always have something to say. I'm already experiencing the comments about certain things and i'm just going to let those roll or else I'll drive myself nuts :)

I try to let them roll.. but some of them just get to me after hearing it for 4months from the same pesron aka FMIL.. but its always been little comments..

I'm so sorry you have to go through that. Planning a wedding is stressful enough that you don't need the extra worries. Is it possible for you could politely ask FMIL not to pass along any negative comments that people are saying? Your day is going to be beautiful
