I am really upset right now- I just found out that Jake will need Neck surgey to repair nerve damaged and 3 crushed vertebrate that he suffered in a car accident 18 months ago
he is always in pain and I hate to see him live like that- but I am worried that if some goes wrong he could be paralyzed
I wish I went to the doctor with him- I feel like he doesn't ask the rights questions- they are going to run more tests tomorrow
Ok- - update I feel better- he is seeing the head of spinal injuriues at Stoney Brook Universary- thisis his 6th opinion and mostly likely the one we will go with
Jake got a very hig tech MRI done yesterday and they saw something very wrong- at first glance it looks like his vertbrate may have been chiped/broken (or it could be bone spruts) - during the accident and then healed wrong b/c no one noticed before- today they are giving him another test today that there normally is a 2 week waiting period for- but b/c of his condition they got him in the next day-
so far we don't 100% know if he will need the surgrey - but it looks like that is going to be the only opntion- the bone growth is pushing on his nerves and can cause paralysis if left untreated- he can't lift anything over 10 lbs-
I am worried but I also feel that he is finally going to be fixed and we can get on with our lives- the last 1.5 years have rolved around doctors, pain killers and days that his neck hurt so much he couldn't get out of bed- it really isn't fair for him- he was SOOOO active before- and he had to stop doing things he longs like snowboarding and ulitmate fighter style fights-

OK so at least you are feeling a lot better now.. Juts try to take it one day at a time and weigh all your options logically before making a decision

My FH has had two back surgeries and is pain all the time and can't lift more then 10 pounds either. And if he has one more surgery we don't know what the outcome will be either He goes to a spine specialist in Babylon that is really great. If you need any info just FM me.

Beth, this is great progress. I am so happy that he is finally getting the care he should have received long ago. I'll be keeping my fingers crossed for him. keep us informed.

You should definitely go with Jake to his appointment and if surgery is his only option to have a normal life with minimal pain and being able to lift items more than 10 lbs. then it's something to consider. Again, I told you my FI is having his neck surgery in 2 weeks and this is his only option. He can't work and is always in pain so we're both praying this will help him. My thoughts and prayers go out to the both of you, I know how your feeling.
