feed your band, photographer, videographer, etc????

We went to our catering hall yesterday, and our baquet manager mentioned that we have to feed our band, photographer & videographer, etc. Not only that we have to do that, but we will also pay for them a full price that we are paying for any guest. Honestly, this is something I was not planning on doing, as band alone is 11 people+ others. That would come out to be an additional $2,000 expense before tax & service charge.

Girls, I need opinions!!!!!!!!!!!
How many of you are planning on doing it? :

I believe mine is included in my RH. You should talk to your RH about paying less than full price for each vendor, but you have to feed them something!! They are there for a minimum of 5 hrs, and the photographer for way longer than that!

As a wedding band singer (currently on leave) I can tell you this.... 90%-95% of the time your vendors do not get the same meal as your guests. We get chicken or pasta or something less expensive. No first course, salad, drinks, dessert, etc... None of that. Its just alittle something.

You need to call your RH & ask them what they are serving your vendors before you agree on a price. Tell them that you want your vendors served 'vendor meals' not guest meals.

We have to as well, it's in our vendor contracts...but we do pay 1/2 price for them unless we have not met our minimum.

You know... I assumed I would pay for my vendors and my hall had them counted in at a child's price. I would probably balk if it was 11+ people at full price though!

I know..when I found out about that I was like ...we have to pay a lot of for the services AND we have to feed them..sheesh why dont they come on a full stomach lol. My videographer is a good friend of mine, so I dont mind feeding him and his wife...Im lucky that I only have 2 DJs and 2 Photographers...dont know if I pay full price of 1/2 yet..have to talk to vendor. If anything, everything will come out to an additional $350

As far as feeding the DJ, band, phtographer

it seems like each place has its own policy on this?

My place will feed the people FREE if I use their vendors, and half off if I use any of my own

I know-FH was not happy with that either...we have an 9 piece band...we are paying for the band, photographer and videographer, but it's 1/2 price b/c they are recommended vendors

We fed t he band (it was in our contract with them) but we got them for a steal... so that was okay.... we also fed our photographer and videograhper as well. i looked at it like this: the photo and video people were with us from 9AM to 7 PM!!! how could you not feed them? it was the right thing to do.

our hall gave us a discounted rate for vendors. your hall is crap for charging you full price... youshould challenge that since they will be too busy taking pics during cocktail hour and they most certainly wont' be drinking so you shouldn't have to pay full price.
