Using out-of-town vendors?

Using out-of-town vendors?

I'm looking into a band that is based in upstate NY. They are willing to travel to LI but I'm concerned with depending on such an important vendor to get here from out of town. What about traffic, flight delays, inclement weather, etc?

If anyone has used (or is planning to use) vendors from out-of-town, what was your experience? Pros/Cons?

Re: Using out-of-town vendors?

I'm in Brooklyn, but having wedding in North Fork, so for me its an out-of-town wedding.

I started with the brilliant idea that its not hard to get vendors I know, who I'm paying good money, to travel 2 hours to my venue.

They all got cranky on me, and made me feel like they are paying me to have a wedding. They gave me ridiculous travel rates and blamed it on gas. I really started to feel like they are taking advantage of gas prices to jack up rates.

I quickly forgot them and looked for everyone in the town of my venue, and they are the best vendors I've talked to.

Oh except my musicians, they are all from NYC.

which band are you looking at?? I'm looking into one in Dutchess county and my wedding will be in lower westchester. He seems really responsive and willing to travel. The only thing is it's impossible for me to get to his office because I live in the city and don't have a car. Also you can ask them where they've done wedding in your area for reference.

please do your homework and consider every option before you make this too hard on you and FH.

I have found working with reception hall vendors they are difficult.
