Is anyone taking any major vacations before their wedding?
I'm only asking this because FH booked Oktoberfest for 3rd time this year and I'm still very irritated about it (he surprised me) He really wanted to go and I told him in the past that he can with his friends , but I didn't want to go because it was going to be too much on me wit the wedding and all...Then he goes against my word and books me a ticket!!!! !@#$%.When we get back we still have 5 months to the wedding.....should I be upset about this????
just venting..........

Just consider yourself lucky that you can afford the vacation before the wedding and try to make it as relaxing as posisble!

ITA! I would love to go on vacation before the wedding; however, FH and I really can't afford it. I can't wait for our honeymoon!! Enjoy your vacation!

I guess you guys are right.......I love Europe, but I just wanted to save as much vacation time as possible for 2011...and I would have liked that money in our joint account.....

Re: Vacation before wedding
I'm guilty of it. We're getting married in May and I just went on a one week trip with my girlfriend to go to Peru to see Macchu Pichu (which is closed and we couldn't go).
The only reason I went is b/c my dad gave me his miles to fly and I spent very little on hotels since we were staying at someone's place and the other hotel was dirt cheap w meals included.
I almost didn't go but it wasn't too expensive and we want to start right away with babies. I saw it as my last trip for a while (aside from HM).
I've also put in alot more than FH for the wedding, so I don't feel guilty about not contributing.

Thats how FH feels...This is probably going to be our last long trip (besides the HM) because we would like to start a family after we get married...
I guess I'll just go with it!!! but I refuse to get a lil beer gut from Germany right before my gown comes in....Last year I gained 7lbs when we came back LOL!!!!!!
Thanks girlies for listening

Re: Vacation before wedding
my fiance and i were going back and forth with the idea of booking a cruise. then he SURPRISED me with out engagement! i then of course immediately felt guilty about even considering a vacation. so we thought and thought and thought ...
and
... booked our 8 day cruise for may! we figure we'll be stressed all year with wedding plans and the like so why not enjoy ourselves! we're calling it our 'wedding-planning-moon'

I think it's good to get away for a little, and plus 5 months is a decent amount of time before the wedding...2 months would have been no good.

Re: Vacation before wedding
We went on a cruise in October that was incredible. FH and I were going through some rough times and it just made everything perfect!!! And I want to go to Buffalo/Niagara Falls in June for my b-day to show him where I went to collage and stuff - just a long weekend. If you can afford it (even by stretching your $$) do it.

We're doing a joint bachelorette party long weekend in the Caribbean before the wedding.
Since it's already booked, you should just try to enjoy!

Re: Vacation before wedding
It'll be awesome!! It's the 200th anniversary of Oktoberfest! So it'll probably be a HUGE celebration! Has FI booked where you guys are staying yet? He might want to get on that ASAP! Places have been booked up since over the summer.
We're kinda planning our HM around Oktoberfest...hehe. We're waiting to sit down and finalize our itinerary. But once we do our stay in Munich will be the first one I book!

FH and I went on Vaccation 7months before our wedding so I dont think it is a big deal. Unless money is a big issue.
