I have a kenmore cannister and I love it. My mom has an electolux cannister that is about 15 years old and still going strong and she vaccuums everyday. I would vote for either one of those.

We have a Kenmore canister and love it. My mom always had one and they have lasted forever. Plus Sears is good at repairing them. We have a great attachement that makes vacuuming the stair so much easier too.
