valet

Original post by allornil

ok so I just saw valet mentioned in another thread and I've asked this before but, do you add valet if it's not offered?

I had the worst dream a while back that people drove their cars into the water at Land's End.

FH wants it and I don't wanna pay for it and most of my friends etc hate valet.

I sort of want to decide what I'm asking them to throw in when I sign that contract.

ask them if they will throw it in for free. most places come with valet without any additional charge

I told FH valet at LE is stupid. He thought about it and agreed. Then came up with new and annoying things he needs, like square tables. ugh they're extra and he's not getting them. and now he wants to go back and look at the chairs. I told him he'll see the stupid chairs when we book and he made a list of dumb things to ask. A LIST!

OMG your FH and mine must be related. He ruled places out because he didn't like the chairs, yet wouldn't consider using chair covers because they cost so much. Then he ruled them out based on what their ceiling looked like

For what its worth after the fact, we got the valet, but they wouldn't throw it in for free since they have to bring in outside people to do it. But they did give us a discount. We did it for the old folks. But I still don't think its an absolute necessity

Re: valet

i would add it if it wasnt included, ive never been to a wedding where there wasnt valet, i think its so convenient especially when you have heels on and if its bad weather you dont really wanna be trekking it from the spot you found to the hall, jmho

I wouldn't do it. You can't get any closer then the parking lot is to the building and it will just jam up the parking lot and make it take longer for people to get in. My father was ready to get valet anywhere I chose for the reception, but even he didn't want it at Lands End.

this is my problem too (expect FH is on the fence too) we like it cause I feel it makes the affair more formal but at the same time I know so many people who hate valet and would prefer not to. Questions also run through my head like- what if it rains or if there are a few older people who cant walk well.

My sister's friend just got married at Land's End last month, and there was no valet, and it was fine for everyone. My sister is getting married in a few weeks at Milleridge though, and added the valet....I think her biggest deciding factor was that if you choose one of the 2 ways to walk to the Cottage from the parking lot, you walk past the area that their dumpsters are in...and on 7/3, it might be unpleasant.

As far as elderly people go, figure that they're being driven by other guests, who can drop them off and then go park the car.

Do you happen to know who your sister is using for Valet?

Re: valet

Its included in my contract but if it wasnt I would not pay extra for it. The parking lot is attached to the place and I think people can park their own cars.
