Girls who used variety for DJ, did you give an extensive play/do not play list. We have our songs for our first dance, father/daughter, mother/son, etc. but i have no clue how specific we should be with the play/do not play list. Im hoping that after we have our final meeting with them, they can get an idea of what we like and i can just trust them.
what were your experiences?

We gave them a list of must plays and do not plays. The DNP had some specific songs, but we simply listed general genres and a few songs.

We gave them about 10 must plays. The only DNP songs were line dances.
They played all my songs and no line dances.

I was......they played the wrong song for me and my dad to dance to - but they corrected it- but then played the right song but by the wrong artist. The percussionist was not so great and they forgot to wish my niece a happy birthday. They played an artist I didn't want to hear- but the dance floor was moving all night. My guests were thrilled. I will take some blame- I got them all my info super late and then made some changes. I still think they were awesome and would definitely book them again.

I'm having a percussionist too. Can you fm me the name of the one you had, and the name of your dj. now im a little nervous, but i guess if the dancefloor was packed all night that's good.

The Variety team was amazing! Ray was great, the zap photgrapher was phenomenal and took amazing shots and I have gotten nothing but compliments from all my guests including my boss who thought the music was amazing! The montage was perfect as was the cocktail hour and the dinner music. A few of my guests are musicians so we are SUPER duper critical. My guests had a wonderful time and never left the dance floor. Even people that never dance were on the floor! I would recommend Variety a million billion times.
