Vegas Marriage Certificate

Vegas Marriage Certificate

okay, weird question but figured someone on here may know.

when you get married in vegas and have the license do they let you have it right away or do you have to wait a few weeks for them to mail it to you?

we just realized that we may be screwed when it comes time for our 2nd wedding (may 22nd - 2 weeks after the first) we were just going to say it was a quick renewal of vows but we just realized that we may not have the actual certificate in our hands, in which case we can't renew our vows if we have no proof.

the rabbi we were going to use has a bar mitzvah in albany the night before so he won't be able to do it now even though he woulda let it slide since he's known us forever.

now i dont know what to do. any suggestions? or any one know?

FH is going to see if he can get ahold of the county offices in vegas today and ask them about it. sorry so long.

I don't think you can get a marriage license once you're currently married. Sorry, I read your post wrong before...the website above says that you can bring proof of your marriage though. Maybe you can have a copy made of your license signed and witnessed from your wedding.

Re: Vegas Marriage Certificate

Well the problem is we're getting married in vegas first so that is where would would get the license/certificate/whatever. But we would need proof of the marriage in order to do the jewish ceremony in NY 2 weeks later.

the copy is a good idea though. FH is on the phone now he's such a good boy

apparently we leave with an office certificate but its not a certified one. so i dont even know what that means.

this is even more confusing now. he's gotta call the rabbi

okay in case any one was on the edge of their seat waiting to see what i did.. not likely.. but ya never know.

apparently when you go down to file for the certificate/license whatever. for 4bucks more you can get a certified one at the same time.

thats much easier then we thought. couldn't they have told us that in the beginning?

haha, yeah, me too- I have a final at 9:15 tomorrow morning, so I'm going to need everybody to stop having breakdowns so that I don't feel it's necessary to throw my two cents in

Re: Vegas Marriage Certificate

I got married in vegas in sept. It took us forever to get our marriage certificate. I sent the req. by reg. mail and got it 3 months later even though the clerks office report 30-45 days. Anyhoo, when we got back from vegas we had mail from a document retrieval service that can get you the certified copy of your certificate in 1 day. We did this after waiting the 30 days and no certificate. I was hestitant at first but it worked out well. We didn't file our liscense when we were in vegas we were told the minister has to do that/or the chapel that you are using does. They have 10 days to document the marriage and file. Have fun getting married in vegas. We had fun even with the cheesy chapel we chose. And our minister was really sweet.
