veggie spinoff...how often do you cook?

from box/can/frozen or from scratch?

Re: veggie spinoff...how often do you cook?

I cook 3-4 times a week.

Most things I make are half and half box vs. scratch.

Like, I buy veggie chicken boxed frozen - and then use that to make a meal.

Some of the stuff I make:

easy empanadas
tacos
chicken piccata
sausage and peppers
mashed potatos, gravy chicken, vegs
chilli
stir fry
rice n beans
chicken w/vegs
enchiladas

we don't eat a lot of pasta, and now probably wont for a while...

the other days we will make breakfast for dinner or make a melt/grill cheese, we love the boxed chicken patties from Morning Star - have chicken cutlet style sandwich with those and some fries.

I try really hard to cook 3-4 times a week... i always make something with ground fat free white meat turkey...just because it is low in cholo.. and fat and doesn't require me to touch....
My fav. to make with it is:

(1)Chili:
Ground turkey, garlic, onion, red beans, black beans, chick peas, and tomato sauce.

(2)turkey/peppers:
Ground turkey, mushrooms, onions, garlic, and peppers.

I usually serve with a salad...they are both very easy to cook!

It totally depends on the week and time of year - I don't cook much in the summer but I do a lot in the fall/winter/early spring.

On the weekend, when I have time, I'll make soup, tomato sauce or whatever else that I need to make from scratch (with the sauce, it's as 'from scratch' as I can make it). I'll also prep a lot on the weekend (like cut up veggies) so that I frees me up on weeknights.

I subsist on sweet potato fries, stuffed peppers (rice, sauce and ground chicken or turkey), turkey burgers, rice pasta with veggies and sauce & salmon steaks.

Depends on the day. If I get home on time and didn't have a craptacular day, I will cook. DH's meals - I usually cook a large meal so it will last two days

I live on Crescent veggie dogs, fakin bacon LTs, cereal w/ soy milk, tofu stirfry, soy cheese pizza, cous cous, pasta and unchicken nuggets I used to eat more beans, but mexican food and oils make me sick now

my George Foreman grill has a recipe in the included cookbook and I just sub chicken cutlets for these:

I am big on the Quorn products.

I roast one of these each week:

slice it and make sandwichs for work, etc. during the week. It's cheaper then buying the pre-cut slices. And has a better texture IMO.

eta - I could post the recipe if you want when I get home. Trader Joes also makes a pre-made piccata sauce. I haven't tried it yet though.

Re: veggie spinoff...how often do you cook?

me...In my head I cook dinner about 3-4 times a week...(in reality, I could be )

when I cook, it's almost always from scratch...from soup to nuts. I even make my own spice rubs (blackening, etc...it's all about control)

I cook breakfast virtually every Sat & Sun..I even did today and gave it to dh to bring in (oatmeal)

dinners can be
blackened salmon with zucchini
chili with rice or corn bread
sausage and peppers
shrimp scampi
luger burgers
baked/roasted/grilled chicken
chicken cutlet parm.
pork chops a few different ways

I enjoy cooking, and I experiment A LOT ...my poor family LOL

breakfast...eggs, pancakes, waffles, home fries (I cheat here though and start out with steak fries and go from there..it's faster) omlettes...bacon, ham, sausage...whatever. breakfast is easy.

freezer section, right by the Morning Star, Boca, etc. You should ask those biznatches for them. I think they will order for you. Where do you work again? I usually go to the one on Jericho Tpke by the Sears Mall.

while we are discussing Quorn... I also make chicken salad and chicken Caesar salad with these:

Jess...i am so impressed!! care to teach me??
I am good with experimenting ...but i lack in time...i always overcook things!! I am always afraid to undercook things!

I really like salmon, I just hate cooking it in the house. We grill it alot in warmer weather though.
