Veil question (I feel dumb here)...

1. Okay, I need to find my headpiece. I have found a couple online that I really like. Now, let's say I order the headpiece online...where do I get the veil??

2. I am a small girl...5'1. My dress is a tight fitting bodice, with a full ball gown skirt. Do you think I should get an elbow length veil or fingertip? Do you think the fingertip will be too long and overpower my body with the full skirt and my small frame?

Jenn, I may have asked you this before, but do you think C & H will custom make a chiffon veil. I never called her, but I think I'm going there within the next 2 weeks.

I ordered my veil from Veilshop.com and it arrived perfectly in less than 3 days. I had my diamond white veil customed made - it was put on a clear comb so I could wear it with my headpiece and remove it when I wanted to. It was relatively cheap too - I think I paid $65 for it. It was 2-tier and had a fine embroidered edge.

As for your length of veil, it really is your preference. I would stick with an elbow length one if I were you, but that is my opinion only.

From your description, I agree that maybe you should go with an elbow length, but really it all depends, I think you should try both lengths on with your dress and see what looks best and what you feel most comfortable in.

From your description, I think elbow length sounds best but I owuld go somewhere and try on both and decide. My old roommate is about 5'1 and the elbow length looked great on her.

I also bought mine at C&H. I am not sure about the chiffon veil..you can call her but she has an accent so it may be hard to do over the phone. She is very sweet and helpful in person.

My SIL also bought hers at the veilshop and would also recommend them.

You can buy your veil and headpiece at separate places but I recommend going somewhere and trying on so you get the feel. Also, if you plan on wearing yours all night like I am you may want to consider sewing the veil onto the headpiece. I never thought of that but the woman at C&H did that for me and I am happy with the results.

I can't really help you about where to get the veil because I was lazy and just got it where I got my dress. But, I will tell you that I thought I wanted a longer veil and tonight I tried one on down to my fingertips. I am also petite and only 5'2' with a small frame. The longer veil was so annoying, it kept going in my face and I was constantly pushing it out of my way etc. It was way too much for my small body. I have a veil that comes to my forearm I think but not so long to get in my way and face!! HOpe this helps.

edited to say: I forgot one more thing: my dress is also a full ball gown look on the bottom and with the bottom being sort of heavy because of the ball gown look and at the same time trying to get the long veil out of my face, I felt like my bottom half of my body was going one way and the top was going the other way when I was trying to get the veil out of my face and the momentum was bringing my bottom part opposite from my top, hard to explain but I hope you get the picture. Stick with the shorter one or at least try them on at the same time to see if your body feels kind of heavy.

I just got mine here. In the store, it would cost $250 and here I payed $78 including shipping. I am sure that if you email her a picture of your gown, Ann the owner, can help you. My gown is silverish-greish and she was very helpful all the way from getting the matching fabric color, the edge, etc.

I highly recommend her.

Thanks for the advice everyone. I think I am definitely going to go with the elbow length.

Now I'm also worried, because like I said, I found a headpiece online that I really like. It's just your average tiara...not too high. But I have a REALLY small head (I know it sounds funny, but it's true - I can cover my entire face with my hand - it's like a little pea)...do you think I will have a problem? Or do you think I should go with one of those tiara like pieces that just stick into your hair with a comb...ugh, I'm so annoying, sorry!!

Marnles, when it comes to things like headpieces, it can get funny. My biggest fear is ordering one online, and it making me look like a clown. Not that this will happen to you, of course.

To best avoid a situation like this, I suggest going to a place that has MANY headpieces, and trying on whatever looks CLOSEST to the one you chose online (make sure to bring a pic)
If it looks good, you can be comfortable with your choice, and place the order. I'm sure you will look like a princess regardless

I hate to say it, but it's just finding the time to go try stuff on...that's why I figured I'd order online. But you're right, especially with the size of my freakin' head, I better go as to not make a HUGE mistake!!

Just schedule 4 hours out of one day. I say 4 hours to be realistic. Plan if for a day, and stick to it, so you could get it over with.
1-2 hours b-sing and round trip travel time w/traffic.
2 hours in the shop (You never plan on staying that long until you get there, lol)

Make sure to bring a camera, take pics with all different types on, and MULTIPLE pics with the type that you want, including a closeup of it on and off your head, making sure to get the sides of it.

I must have the same head as you. My head is really small and I ordered a headpiece that had combs in it. When I went for my hair trial the girl said the head piece was way too big for my head. No one ever figured that into the picture when I was buying the tiara. I brought it back to where I got it and very unhappily they saw it was too big and gave me a smaller style. The bigger one could not even be fixed by distorting it to be smaller. So I have the smaller style. Either try it on before you get it or get a comb that just goes on the top. I never thought my head size would be a problem but it was

my sister ordered online and the tiara came with a veil, also she could return it if she didnt like it.

Where are you thinking of ordering from? Post a pic, I would love to see it.

I also think I would go with the elbow length
