I emailed bob with a few things and he is great and emailed me right back and answered all my questions!
the only thing I didnt like was I had asked him if I could send him when it gets closer a list of 'must take photos' and Id understand if he couldnt get them..but if he could that would be great
and he was very tackful and friendly in his response but basically told me no...
I understand what eh was saying...he said how hes an artist and doesnt like to copy other photogs work...
it just kind of irked me though since there are a few pictures Id love to re create...oh well :(

ill be honest with you, its better off to not really do that...Some pics of course can be recreated but i see certain ppl put pics on their must take list and it will be of this totally candid moment that couple was having, it was something spontaneous and the reason that picture is what it is, because its real its something that happened in the moment and the emotions and moment is real...To recreate it kinda is pointless bc its basically all set up and the moment really isnt there
can you maybe give him a list of Must Takes written like dont give him actual pics that were taken but write to him you would like to recreat a pic where John is kissing your forehead or a pic where you zoom in on your rings...
does that make sense?? haha

Re: velvet girls?
its better off so this way he doesnt spend his time trying to recreate moments and busy making sure to get things off your list...he'll spend his time capturing the real moments of your wedding as it happens

pictures like these are ok to recreate
the first one is one of the ones I wanted
in my opinion though there are some pictures that are imprtant for me to recreate....most of them are pictures of my parents and how they are posed and my great grandma
I am wearing my mothers veil...and its been passed on to her from my greatgrandma...and my mother recreated some of her pictures so Id really like to do the same and have them in a frame together. if that makes sense

dont worry they'll get those pics...most photographers will do this they are used to it by now and have those few shots they do at every wedding. Just when you do talk to him say oh i like the ring pics, and the kissing the forehead pics...just give him an idea of what you like and the style youre going for

yeah the traditional family pics is something they need to know about and how you want to do that.
Show him the pics your mom did and im sure he'll understand.
Some photographers dont like it only bc some girls give this huge must take list and take away from the photographers artistic side...if you tell him about this i am sure he'll understand

by the way that whole grandmothers veil thing and recreating those pics sounds so beautiful and so touching, that is so great to have.
I think maybe just talk to him and say hey theres a few things that are important to me that i want to discuss, i think the 'MUST TAKE LIST' thing throws them off thats it...then you can show him what you want and explain it to him.

Well I have pics I want to recreate and when I take my e photos I was going to give them to him. I will let you know what he says because I always wanted to recreate three of the pics that I have.

Yeah, I know! When I said it when I booked him, he said nothing. Maybe he was waiting for me to book him first.

Yeah Its really special to me, And somthing id love to have..although I didnt know my GG she looked so beautiful. My mom is my best friend in the whole world...and to wear the veil she wore on the day she married my dad is just incrediable...I cant wait to put it on!
its beautiful also...excatly what I would have wanted in a veil
I guess maybe the way I went about emailing him was wrong since I wrote 'must takes ' but I did explain what I wanted and he just wrote how he couldnt guarentee it.
maybe once I show him the pictures he will understand

Yes. Tell him in person and have them with you. I am going to do it when I take my e pics because that will probably be the next time I see him. I think he will do it once you explain.

awww that is so touching and sweet.
Yeah i think some photographers just get thrown off with that phrase...when you get a chance to talk to him just let him know what you want and show him the pics.

Re: velvet girls?
My photographer told me the same thing, and it is not velvet. He said he'll do it if I want him to but he doesn't like to for the same reason bob told you, he's an artist and wants his work to be original.

i would be irked too ... this was one of the reason why i didnt book with velvet ... he kept telling me if we have time we can do this ...and i felt like being i am paying you a lot of money we will do what i want regardless of the time ... In my opinion you should be able to get any pictures you want with no problems your paying for what you want not what he wants ... i dont see why he cant take your must take picutres and still be the artist that he wants to be ...
