velvet girls?

Original post by Jesaroo2

Ok so I have a question..

I emailed bob with a few things and he is great and emailed me right back and answered all my questions!

the only thing I didnt like was I had asked him if I could send him when it gets closer a list of 'must take photos' and Id understand if he couldnt get them..but if he could that would be great

and he was very tackful and friendly in his response but basically told me no...

I understand what eh was saying...he said how hes an artist and doesnt like to copy other photogs work...

it just kind of irked me though since there are a few pictures Id love to re create...oh well :(

can you maybe give him a list of Must Takes written like dont give him actual pics that were taken but write to him you would like to recreat a pic where John is kissing your forehead or a pic where you zoom in on your rings...

does that make sense?? haha

That's what he told me, if I wanted to I could have a list of types of picts I wanted.

I remember Camacho saying that. She used him and had a list of photos she wanted to recreate. Their is a thread of pictures that brides wanted to recreate and ones that were. She posted pictures, that although he didnt try to recreate, he actually did. I wouldnt worry about it if you like the quality of his work, i'm sure he's going to get the best shots possible. I'm confident in him

Bob does great work and I am sure you will have penlty of pics that are great. and you might even have some of the ones you wanted recreated. But you will have amazing pics. It's very hard to recreate a pic. Espically if it was in a momentthat just happened. You will have tons of pics like that. don't worry.

I don't know what it is, but I just don't like the idea of 'must take lists' or giving a photographer must take photos. You want the story of YOUR day, not someone else's. If you give a whole list of must takes, your photographer won't have a chance to capture original images of you two together b/c they will have to go by your list... and they will probably end up looking posed.

I basically told Bob I didn't want many posed pics and to just make a story of our day. He definitely did that!

If there is a pic you want on the day of, just say it. I knew we wanted the 'veil pic' so as he was taking some pics I said that I wanted to put the veil over our heads. So we did it and he got amazing shots of that.

He got the shots I wanted even before I could say anything. DH and I were leaving the rose garden at Old Westbury Gardens and i was thinking how cute this pic would be of us walking away and then I hear their cameras clicking away. Here is the result:

Sorry, I wrote a book.

well thank you for writting a book :)

its very comforting to hear other brides talk good about velvet and make me know Im going to get the pictures I want :)

You are one of the reasons that I booked with Bob. When I saw your pictures I was like I need to meet with them!
He is so talented but you and your husband made the pictures! you guys looked great in all of them!

thanks for the reassurance :)

He said the same thing to me-- and I understand-- I said that I wasnt going to give him a 'must take list' but I would give him some pics to look over to see what I like- this way he understands my style. I will, however, make sure I let him know that I want the pics of the programs, rings, bo-k-- I read a post from a past velvet bride that gave NO must takes and regretted it-- I think Bob just doesnt want to promise he will recreate a moment- often times the recreated photos look forced- no one wants that!

If you mention to him the types of shots you want you should be ok. CaMacho said she wanted a veil shot and I think her pictures are so original. She got the veil shot and he put his artistic spin on it.
