Vendor Cold Call Phone Solicitation

Original post by twosteppinlady

About an hour ago I recieved a cold call from Elsa Jewlers, saying they got my name and phone number from LIWeddings. Does signing up here give the vendors the right to call me? I was surprised to find they got my number from here. Anyone else have this problem?

i usually never give out my real info, and have a separate email address for all 'wedding related items'. that said, i did have one vendor contact me and i have NO IDEA how this person got my info. i asked them what they were talking about because i was not getting married - they hung up.

That's really funny.

I wish that I had realized that I shouldn't give out the real info. when I signed up. I signed up for the knot before and I get nothing and no calls. Since I have signed up at LIW, I get SPAM! I plan on changing my e-mail address after the wedding is over.

I was lucky, I gave a # of 00000000 and it went through, my problem is the damn email, everyday my box is full with the same crap from the same people, I understand you have to solicit but once is enough

I realize now I should have put all bogus info in there. I'm a second time bride, but the first time I got married there was no internet so I'm not savvy to all this stuff LOL. I was smart enough though to use my hotmail account, they can fill it all they want with their junk mail. Goes in my junk e-mail box and all I do is hit 'empty'. I like your ideas though about putting THEIR phone numbers in there, they must love getting those phone calls!! Thanks for all the replies and good luck with all your planning girls!

I just got one from Spectrum Music last night. It's so annoying!! I changed my number on this site to 718-999-9999. I can deal with stuff in the mail, I don't think that's so intrusive, but a phone call?? A bit much, like I'm going to say - oh, you called me? Ok, I'll book you then. PLEASE!!

I work in marketign & we do a ot of unsolicted mail, so I understnd that.
The callign i don't like
I am on the NYS do no call list, so I put a fake#.
at first I put my cell #, but hten Rev. April called me whiel I was in SUbway & liek an idiot I answered & I was so confuesed, because 'she was told I was lookignfor a minister'
but that was so untrue. I had JUST gotten engaged, & I was lookignfor a churhc, I never contacted anyway about looking for a minister.
